Illinois’ United States Senate election—Mike Labno, LeAlan Jones, Mark Kirk, and Alexi Giannoulias


I’m running out of time to post all the material I want to post before the general election. Therefore, I’m going to post more than one a day when I have opportunity. Today, I’m posting five. The candidates for U.S. Senate are:

1) Mike Labno—Libertarian

2) LeAlan Jones—Green Party

3) Mark Kirk—Republican

4) Alexi Giannoulias—Democrat

On October 12th, I posted the questions and the answers given by these four candidates as asked and given by Illinois Family Institute. At that time I stated that I am supporting Mike Labno. I still am! I, however, want to add a few more comments at this time.

The Peoria Journal Star on October 29, 2010, page B5 published an article entitled “Groups that once backed Kirk endorse Giannoulias.” Some selected statements from the article include the following:

“Chicago—Several Illinois advocacy groups that backed Republican Mark Kirk in past elections endorsed his Democratic opponent Thursday in the race for President Barack Obama’s old Senate seat, a move Kirk said was not surprising.

The Illinois Education Association, Sierra Club, Planned Parenthood (Planned MURDERHOOD—my addition) and the Human Right Campaign (an organization which promotes an extreme homosexual agenda—my addition) were among the groups (Democratic supporting groups—my addition) that have supported Kirk, a five-term congressman, several times since 2002.”

“‘It’s a standard thing that they may desert you in a tight election,’ he (Mark Kirk—my addition) said. “But I remain who I am: a fiscal conservative, a social moderate, a pro-choice member of the House of Representatives and soon to be the Senate.’”

First of all, as I’ve said many times, it is NOT moderate to support the MURDER of unborn babies!!! And there you have it in Mark Kirk’s own words. He supports the MURDER of unborn babies. He does NOT deserve the vote of any true conservative who supports the Constitution of the United States and our Declaration of Independence which supports life over death and which states clearly that our right to life comes from GOD.

Along these lines, the National Right to Life PAC is running a commercial in which it states not to vote for Alexi Giannoulias. And yet, it says nothing about NOT supporting Mark Kirk. Has this PAC sold it’s soul to the devil? Mark Kirk supports the MURDER of unborn babies just as does Alexi Giannoulias! In Fact, the ONLY Pro-Life candidate in this election is Mike Labno. I am supporting the only PRO-LIFE candidate—Mike Labno.

Don’t give me that old song and dance that I’m wasting my vote. That is a self-defeating argument. If you don’t support a PRO-LIFE candidate over candidates who support MURDER you will get a Senator who supports MURDER! Does that make sense!

A recent poll placed conservative voters at 40% nationwide. I would venture a guess that that is very close to what Illinois is also. If about 35% of all conservative voters vote for Mike Labno, he has a chance to win this election. A recent poll has the Green Party candidate drawing 8% of the vote. The Republican and Democratic candidates have been running each other down with negative ads. If each of them draws about 30% of the vote because people are disguised with both of them, it would allow Mike Labno to win with his 35% conservative vote.

An example:

LeAlan Jones—Green Party = 8% of the vote

Mark Kirk—Republican = 31% of the vote

Alexi Giannoulias—Democrat = 29% of the vote

Mike Labno—Libertarian = 32% of the vote

It can happen IF conservative, PRO-LIFE voters vote for Mike Labno. It can’t happen if they give up and vote for the other candidates who ARE NOT CONSERVATIVE. The VOTE is in OUR hands. We failed in the primary. Are we going to fail in the general election too?

However, even if Mike Labno loses, I would rather see Alexi Giannoulias win than Mark Kirk. MARK KIRK IS A FRAUD! He supports the MURDER of unborn babies! He is a RINO!

Alexi Giannoulias will be easier to defeat six years from now that the RINO Mark Kirk because the Republican Party will support him even more than it is today. The party’s philosophy will be: “a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.” They have the seat and it’s easier to support an incumbent RINO than take the chance of an actual conservative defeating him in the primary and then winning the general election. That’s just the way they think in political parties. We MUST defeat Mark Kirk now or be stuck with him in the future.

Illinois judges—my position on three


1) I reside in the Tenth Judicial District where there are two open positions. One does not have a contest. The other has Democrat Christopher Spanos running against Republican John Vespa. I was at a meeting where both were invited. Mr. Spanos did not attend. I’m supporting John Vespa for the Tenth Judicial District.

John Vespa supported.

Retention elections:

The other two court positions are retention elections. The judge has served at least one term in office and is seeking to be kept in office. This is a yes or no vote for that specific judge for that specific position. No other name is on the ballot. In Illinois the judge must receive a 60% yes vote. If not, an election is held to fill the position.

I know of no time when a judge has not been retained. The problem is that most voters have no knowledge of whether or not a particular judge is good or bad or somewhere in between so they tend to vote yes. I tend to vote no. I want to help to get a bad judge out of office. This year, there is more knowledge than normal about the two judges.

2) Third Appellate Judicial District: Mary McDade is seeking retention.

She is notorious for lowering the sentence of convicted felonies. In one case, a student took a gun to school in Peoria and fired it at students while within the school. He was convicted and sentenced to ten years. In a two to one decision, she voted to reduce the sentence to months.

3) Third District Illinois Supreme Court: Tom Kilbride is seeking retention

Tom Kilbride is supposedly spending millions to retain his position. And he needs to do so because there is organized opposition to his retention. One very important reason is that he was the 4th (7 members on the Supreme Court of Illinois) and decisive vote to rule that a General Assembly law to restrict the money awards in medical cases was unconstitutional. The rational was that the law violated the separation of powers clause of the State constitution. I have read the appropriate sections of the State constitution and, in my opinion, that’s a nonsensical decision but typical of lawyers.

Illinois’ proposed Constitutional Amendment—JUST VOTE NO!!!


"Please read the following about the Initiative to Recall Governor. This is the first paragraph of the Proposal.

'Proposed Amendment to Article III

Suffrage and Elections

Section 7—Initiative to Recall Governor

(a) The recall of the Governor may be proposed by a petition signed by a number of electors equal in number to at least 15% of the total votes cast for Governor in the preceding gubernatorial election, with at least 100 signatures from each of at least 25 separate counties. A petition shall have been signed by the petitioning electors not more than 150 days after an affidavit has been filed with the State Board of Elections providing notice of intent to circulate a petition to recall the Governor. The affidavit may be filed no sooner than 6 months after the beginning of the Governor’s term of office. The affidavit shall have been signed by the proponent of the recall petition, at least 20 members of the House of Representatives, and at least 10 members of the Senate, with no more than half of the signatures of members of each chamber from the same established political party.'

Please vote NO for the following reasons:

1. It is controlled by the politicians.

2. This for the Governor only.

What is needed is an Amendment to—

1. Recall any one that is elected at the State level

2. Petition would be signed and submitted by the Citizens of Illinois” (with a reasonable number of required signatures—my addition)

My proposal of what a proposed Amendment in this area should prescribe:

The affidavit shall have been signed by the proponent(s) of the recall petition.”

Operation Black Storm denies ‘race’ claim of left

‘Tired of being called racist? Do something about it’

and its goal is to systematically cut the support from under any of the ‘left’ arguments that the tea party is racist and people of color naturally should drift to the Democrat Party.

Oh, and by the way, it’s planning on putting 15 candidates with a wide range of life experiences but a common intent of building America back up into office.

The candidates all are challenging incumbent Democrats in House races from New York to California. The movement is intended to raise money, get out the vote and reverse the mistaken but commonly adopted perception that the tea party and conservative coalitions are not for blacks.

Assembled by the Patriot PAC, it describes its own goals.

‘Although Patriot PAC supports candidates of all races and ethnicities, due to the need to provide a counterbalance to the Progressive/Liberal Congressional Black Caucus, our focus this election cycle is on providing support for black conservative candidates in 2010. Candidates below can be trusted to adhere to and abide by both the letter and the spirit of the Constitution.’

The project is the brain-child of Operation Black Storm Executive Director Lynne Roberts and Conservative Messenger.org president Keith Smith.

Smith says that many black Americans are socially and politically conservative. To reach out to them, he says he’s taking them back to their roots by reminding them of a politically conservative, 19th century black Republican, Frederick Douglass.

‘When you study Douglass’ life, Douglass believed in four, life-empowering values. He had respect for the Constitution, respect for life, belief in limited government and belief in the responsibility of the individual. Douglass believed in that, so Douglass was the quintessential conservative,’ Smith explained.

Roberts agrees that Frederick Douglass Republicans, the tea party and these candidates take black Americans back to their roots.

Roberts says the tea party should resonate with black Americans.

‘A lot of black Americans have been voting for Democrats when in fact it’s against their values. Most of them are very conservative. These Democrats they’ve been electing are totally opposite their values,’ Roberts observed.

Smith adds that even though this is historically accurate, the media has made it difficult to say that publicly.

‘What I’ve done and what God has given me is that I do not describe myself as a conservative, not because I’m not one, but because in the black community, the word conservative has been strained by the liberal media and liberal politicians to be synonymous with racist. So I describe myself as a Frederick Douglass Republican,’ Smith continued.

‘It’s a turn of phrase and it’s a phrase that God has given me to inspire people to defend liberty,’ Smith added.

Smith says the phrase ‘Frederick Douglass Republican’ takes some of the name-calling out of play.

‘This phrase resonates with people. The ‘I’m a Frederick Douglass Republican’ trumps the race card. What it does for me is that it gives me an opportunity to engage at the local level. It gives them an opportunity to engage in political dialogue,’ Smith observed. ‘It takes the race card off the table and then we get to discuss ideas. That’s where we want to get to because as conservatives we have the best ideas,’ Smith stated.

Smith also says that the mainstream Republican Party hasn’t made much effort to help the candidates because most of them are running in predominantly black districts. Smith says that the GOP has almost ‘written off’ the black vote.

‘That’s appropriate under the old approach, but we now have a new approach, and that’s what resonates. We say we’re Frederick Douglass Republicans. That’s what resonates,’ Smith said.

Most of the support for these candidates is coming from the tea party, something that Smith says is ironic considering that the tea party has been fighting the charge of racism since the Tea Party Express tour began last spring.

‘I speak at tea party events and I will continue to do so because I’ve done my homework. I attended the organizational meetings. The tea party movement supports those life-affirming values. Once you put aside the race-baiting that goes on and pull back the veneer, they’re conservatives and they support the values that Frederick Douglass advocated,’ Smith explained.

Roberts says the list of candidates is extraordinary.

‘In order to forever still the race card, we need to elect black candidates. We have a group that is just incredible. You can go to our web site, www.operationblackstorm.com and it has all of their pictures. The pictures link directly to their campaign web sites,’ Roberts explained.

Charlotte Bergmann is one of the 15 candidates and she’s running for Congress in Tennessee’s ninth district against incumbent Democrat Steve Cohen. Bergmann’s campaign says that RNC Chairman Michael Steele has made a campaign appearance on her behalf .

The Ninth District includes Memphis and Bergmann’s Campaign Manager Howie Morgan says the differences between Bergmann and Cohen are clearest with cap-and-trade and Obamacare.

‘Memphis is the transportation hub. You can get to almost 70 percent of the rest of America by truck in one day from Memphis. There is a ton of transportation companies in town, I mean trucking companies out the ‘wazoo‘, distribution centers for many companies,’ Morgan explained.

‘Fed-Ex, based in Memphis. Railroad yards, it’s a major crossroads for Canadian National and BMSF. I mean it's just a huge transportation hub. And here we have a congressman who's voting cap-and-trade, which will do nothing more than raise transportation costs for everybody in the nation,’ Morgan added.

‘Another thing is Medicare. Politico has called me about the 'Turn your head and cough ad.' It’s on You Tube. The health care bill was a half-hearted attempt, half free market way and half government control,’ Morgan continued.

‘These things affect economy and jobs and that’s why we’re against cap-and-trade and Obamacare. These things will do nothing more than strangle their livelihood,’ Morgan said.

Morgan adds that with energy policy, free markets are the best way to determine America’s future.

Roberts adds that the new approach builds bridges.

‘The message of Operation Black Storm trumps the race card and completely take it off the table,’ Roberts said.”

What started the passionate discussion? William Owens talked about a book he was reading which says black America believes they are owed. This is why 96% of blacks ignored principles and values and voted for Obama simply because he is black.

Is black America’s mindset justified?

Unanimously, we agreed that voting based on race is wrong. Where we disagreed was how best to approach our mission to stop the insanity of blacks continuous monolithically voting for democrats. Every problem in the black community can be traced back to democrats and their so-called compassionate programs. And yet, Dems own the black vote.

We also touched on how the largest killer of blacks in America is abortion and how the most dangerous place in the world for a black child is in its mother’s womb. 50% are aborted. (http://www.blackgenocide.org/)

How can we change black America’s entitlement victim-hood mindset? Someone in our group, thanking Glenn Beck for teaching about black patriots on his TV show, said, ‘Blacks need to be educated regarding their contributions to America’.

Numerous approaches were discussed.

Our black conservative discussion group is very encouraged that a historic number, 37, conservative republican blacks are running for House and Senate seats. We vowed to
do all in our power to help our fellow black patriots get elected.

We the People/Tea Party Patriots are going to clean house this November voting out the dirty rotten scoundrels who forced Obamacare down our throats. However, this is only phase one of our mission to take back America from the Obama administration which seeks to ‘fundamental transform it’.

Between now and the 2012 presidential election, we black conservatives acknowledge our moral duty to reach out to black America in whatever ways our passions, talents, gifts and God lead. Each of us black conservatives on the TPX tour bus have ideas and initiatives in the works.

One of my colleagues brought up that back in the 50s, despite being challenged with real racism and discrimination, blacks had the dignity of self reliance. Black families were intact. We prospered.

Then, along came the democrats with their seductive ‘you’re a victim and we feel your pain’ entitlement welfare programs/voter campaign. Not only do we conservatives acknowledge that people need a safety net and a hand up from time to time, we are first to generously and freely give.

We oppose government confiscating and redistributing our hard earned funds to purchase votes and enslave people to eternal government dependency.

Liberal democrats are notorious for lying; claiming their mission is black empowerment, while doing things which create the opposite. Their true goal is self empowerment via government dependency which equals votes. We black conservatives have had enough of liberal democrats’ despicable abuse of minorities via smoke and mirror dirty tricks.

Our mission is to rescue our fellow blacks from the Liberal Democrat Plantation, politically fighting pass the overseers; the NAACP, Congressional Black Caucus, Sharpton, Jackson and others. By God’s Grace and guidance, we will set our people free.

I think I heard him on Sean Hannity’s radio show in his section dealing with current candidates. B.J. Lawson vs. David Price—North Carolina Congressional District 4


I was listening to Rush Wednesday as he was talking about this race. Later, the father of B.J. Lawson called and said that B.J. is a “Rush baby.” Consequently I had to check him out and the result is this post. Rush said that B.J. has given out over 50,000 copies of the U.S. Constitution during his campaign. What a concept!

William ‘B.J.’ Lawson is a husband, father of three and concerned citizen with a background in engineering, medicine, business and entrepreneurship.

After graduating from Lakeland Senior High School in Florida, B.J. came to North Carolina in 1992 to study engineering and then medicine at Duke University. His high-school sweetheart, now wife, JoLynn attended Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, which made Duke’s engineering even more attractive.

Protect Life, Family, and Freedom to Do Good

Life begins at conception, and the primary purpose of government is to protect life—thus there is no ‘right’ to elective abortion. Furthermore, Roe v. Wade is an unconstitutional decision, as it is outside of the Supreme Court’s constitutional jurisdiction. As your Congressman, I will work to legislatively overturn Roe v. Wade and return the abortion issue to our states, where we can take control of this critical issue and through efforts to protect life, support women with unwanted pregnancies, and end taxpayer financing of abortions and ‘family planning’.

I will also work at the federal level to end taxpayer funding for abortions/‘family planning’ and support legislation defining life as beginning at conception.

The family is the foundation of our prosperity and security. Marriage and religion are related in that marriage is a sacred covenant between myself, my spouse, and our God made in the presence of God within our community of faith. I separate marriage as a holy commitment from the legal contract that engages our civil codes, and do not support giving the federal government more of a role in defining the sacrament of marriage—defining marriage is the job of churches, not of government. The issue of community property and family law is a state issue, not a federal one, and should remain at the state level.

I believe freedom of religion is under threat by government, and specifically our oppressive form of income taxation. Churches trade their ability to speak freely and work for positive social change for the tax ‘benefits’ of 501c3 status—thus effectively muzzling what should be one of our greatest advocates for positive social change. So called ‘faith-based initiatives’ are one of most insidious dangers—churches can literally become dependent on government funding instead of voluntary tithes and donations to carry out their missions. (Also, very TRUE!!!—my addition)

We need to take back our communities, and not ‘outsource’ welfare and social justice to the government. Building a just community with well-developed safety nets is where our churches need to shine, and compete on an open playing field for the hearts and minds of people trying to improve their lives by living their faith.

I believe we need smaller government and larger charities, simply because government relies on coercive force and taking through taxation, while charities bring change through voluntary association and charitable giving. I will work to enact economic policies that free us to do a better job helping ourselves and each other through our communities of faith.

Immigration

William (B.J.) Lawson is a firm advocate of enforcing our existing immigration laws, opposes amnesty for illegal immigrants, and fully supports the efforts of the Arizona government in picking up the enforcement of the federal laws.

While we are a nation of immigrants, illegal immigration has reached epidemic
proportions and is economically unsustainable. We must eliminate economic incentives

While we cannot directly control corruption or economic opportunity in other countries, to the extent that our trade and agricultural policies damage other nations, we worsen the problem of illegal immigration.

I will work to repeal agricultural subsidies and heavily-managed trade agreements such as NAFTA that destroy agriculture in developing countries, and worsen our domestic unemployment.”

Why? Because they’ve all considered Robinson’s race against DeFazio unwinnable.

WND reported Friday, an eye-opening independent poll shows DeFazio—who won re-election in 2008 with a staggering 82 percent of the vote—is running neck and neck with Robinson in the home stretch. The Wilson Research Strategies poll

This particular congressional race epitomizes everything that is rotten—and wonderful—about America today, and about the historic choice Americans will make Nov. 2.

To bolster his re-election chances, he now brags that he opposed Obama and Pelosi on the stimulus—but doesn’t disclose the reason: He voted no because the $787 billion stimulus had too many tax breaks!

Worse than all this—and I’m choosing my words carefully now—DeFazio is a deceitful political hack, so desperate to hang on to his coveted congressional seat he’s occupied for 24 years that he’s willing to blatantly libel and slander his opponent with wild untruths—all crafted to scare voters just before election time.

The DeFazio attack machine is running a series of outrageous television, print and online ads accusing Robinson of being funded by Big Oil, of being in the pocket of Wall Street, of planning on shutting down the nation’s public schools, of planning the demise of the Social Security system—and even of plotting to irradiate Americans’ drinking water! Oh, and he’s also being called a racist—of course.

It’s the same old miserable pre-election tactic we’re seeing all over the country right now, like in Delaware where Christine O’Donnell is being tied to witchcraft. Or in Florida where out-of-control Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson is airing TV ads characterizing his GOP rival Daniel Webster as "Taliban Dan"

by twisting Webster’s words about the Bible to say exactly the opposite of what Webster actually said. We’re seeing it everywhere because it’s the only thing any Democrat can do to get himself re-elected (TRUE!!! They can‘t very well run on the issues or their voting records!—my addition): Try to marginalize your opponent as a truly dangerous wacko, since the public is so totally disgusted with you that they wouldn’t send you back to Washington under any other circumstance.

Please bear with me for a moment while I tell you what kind of a man Art Robinson—whom I’ve known personally for many years—really is.

A Ph.D. research scientist of international stature, Robinson co-founded, with Nobel-winner Linus Pauling, the Linus Pauling Institute in Menlo Park, Calif. Then in 1980, with the help of his chemist wife Laurelee, Robinson founded the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine. While carrying out influential research, Art and Laurelee also raised and homeschooled their six children on 350 idyllic acres in southern Oregon.

Then tragedy struck. In 1988, Laurelee died suddenly from hemorrhagic pancreatitis, leaving Art alone to care for all those children ranging from 18 months up to 12 years of age. What did he do in such a terrible, crushing circumstance?

Art restructured their homeschooling curriculum in such a way that his children could, to a considerable extent, teach themselves. He also eventually packaged the curriculum and offered it to the homeschooling world. ‘The Robinson Curriculum’ apparently works pretty well, as today all six of Art’s children either have doctorate degrees or will shortly. One has a chemistry Ph.D., two have doctorates in veterinary medicine and the last three are all in the Oregon State University graduate program working toward their Ph.D.s in nuclear engineering. (What a wacko family!—my addition)

Oh, and how’d they pay for all that expensive college and postgraduate schooling—six times? Sales of ‘The Robinson Curriculum,’ which remains very popular among homeschoolers.

Talk about the American can-do spirit!

More important, at least as it pertains to the upcoming election, Art Robinson is a straight-shooting, problem-solving Reagan conservative who not only loves this country, he understands this country—what makes it work—and is willing to fight the good fight to restore it to greatness and prosperity.

One example of his can-do attitude: Robinson has single-handedly documented the utter lack of unanimity in the scientific community on manmade global warming through a petition

he started—not an online petition, mind you, but an actual document physically signed—that to date has been signed by more than 31,000 scientists, including more than 9,000 Ph.D.s. All 31,000 agree that "there is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate.’ (Proof to leftists that he is not only a wacko but a dangerous wacko. Dangerous to their quest to control the nation!—my addition)

That’s all great, you might be thinking, but what about those allegations from DeFazio and his proxies that Robinson is a dangerous, wacko extremist? Any truth to them? Let’s take a look:

1) One part of ‘The Robinson Curriculum’ is a recommendation that students read as many as possible of the 99 short, classic historical novels for children penned by celebrated British author G.A. Henty (kind of like the ‘Hardy Boys’ books). Now it happens that in one of these 99 Victorian-era books—all of which Robinson personally reprinted and offered to the public as an adjunct to his homeschooling curriculum—one fictional character makes a two-sentence remark while in Africa that could be considered racially insensitive by today’s standards. Because of this, candidate Art Robinson is being labeled a racist. (I’m familiar with the G.A. Henty books. The racist contention, if based upon this author’ book, is pure nonsense. The books are fiction. It’s like saying Dr. Robinson supports murder because a murder occurred in A BOOK HE RECOMMENDED. Another example of what the leftists love to use—guilt by association!—my addition)

Yes, I know, it’s insane. But wait—there’s more.

2) Robinson discusses in his newsletter ‘Access to Energy’ an emerging field of science called ‘hormesis,’ which hypothesizes that very low levels of ionizing radiation (which occurs naturally most everywhere, though to different degrees) may be beneficial to human health, so that one day human beings may actually control the level of background radiation in their environment for optimal health. DeFazio translation: Robinson wants to poison your drinking water with radiation.

3) Robinson has said one way to help America attain energy independence as soon as possible and end its dangerous slavery to hostile foreign sources is to reduce or eliminate the tax burden on all energy industries, from oil, gas and coal to wind, solar and nuclear. DeFazio translation: Robinson is in the pocket of ‘Big Oil.’ (I’ve got bad news for the libertines. The corporate income tax is unconstitutional. The Supreme Court created a fiction that businesses are people and therefore could be taxed through the corporate income tax—my addition)

4) Robinson’s campaign is funded almost exclusively by large numbers of small donations from individuals, but DeFazio has fabricated the notion that Robinson is being bought off by Wall Street. One of DeFazio’s main TV ads ends with this: ‘Tell Art Robinson and his big-money special interests that this election isn’t for sale.’ (Where do you think DeFazio’s money is coming from?—my addition)

There are other attacks, but you get the idea. This is defamation, pure and simple.

Friends, in this era when socialist ‘progressives,’ environmentalist wackos and radical change agents of all stripes are attempting to ‘transform’ America, there’s a lot of talk among normal folk about the founding fathers. As tea partiers and others strive to reconnect with our country’s roots and set it back on a right course, they often invoke the men of America’s founding generation for guidance and inspiration.

Let me tell you, in this election, Art Robinson reminds me more of the Founding Fathers—principled, multi-talented Renaissance men, some of them scientists like Jefferson and especially Franklin—than anyone else in the current candidate field. Think about it: Ben Franklin was a scientist, writer, printer, political theorist, inventor, civic activist and statesman. Art Robinson is all of these things—except the last one, statesman. He needs your help to make that happen.

Art Robinson loves his farm and his kids and his science work and doesn’t really dream of power and Washington and living at the public trough. That’s exactly the kind of person we need in Congress. Believe me, it’ll be worth electing him just to watch a real scientist stand up in the House chamber and verbally annihilate the silly rhetoric of all those congressmen and women touting ‘global warming’ and cap-and-trade. Yet another elected federal official is under fire for omitting references to God in America’s historical documents and creeds.

A C-SPAN video has surfaced of U.S. Representative Betty McCollum, D-Minnesota, leading the floor of the U.S. House in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, but conspicuously going silent when the words ‘under God’ would normally be said.

on three separate occasions in a little over a month—by quoting the Declaration of Independence but glaringly omitting the founding document’s acknowledgement of God as ‘Creator’ and source of human rights.

Where the Declaration states, ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness,’ President Obama has quoted only that all men ‘are endowed’ with certain rights.

The video of McCollum’s omission, which dates from an April 17, 2002, session of Congress, was reportedly discovered in the C-SPAN archives by a voter from the congresswoman’s district and then spread through a number of blogs and websites, inciting a flurry of critical comments from readers.

When McCollum’s office was asked about the incident in 2002, her chief of staff, Bill Harper, said it was ‘a totally innocent accident.’

‘Betty is a Girl Scout leader who taught the Pledge of Allegiance and is a member of the American Legion auxiliary and the VFW auxiliary,’ Harper told the St. Paul Pioneer Press. ‘She loves the Pledge of Allegiance.’

Harper further explained that she had stood on the House floor to deliver a speech on the environment when she was unexpectedly asked to recite the Pledge, and then she was given contrary instructions on where to stand.

Midway through the Pledge, Harper said, ‘she was afraid she had her back to the flag, and she kind of took a deep breath,’ causing her to accidentally drop the words.

The video, however, clearly shows McCollum turning from the microphone at the beginning of the Pledge
and facing the massive U.S. flag that hangs behind the speaker’s seat.

A St. Paul native, McCollum is a graduate of College of St. Catherine in St. Paul and is listed by Project Vote Smart as a Roman Catholic. She has nonetheless been a champion of both legalized abortion and homosexual advocacy during her 10 years in office.

As for the president’s repeated omissions of references to God when quoting the Declaration, WND’s correspondent at the White House, Les Kinsolving, raised the issue after the second incident in a daily briefing with Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.

I’ve written (Thursday, 9/3/09 post) that Representative Phil Hare [D] Illinois—17th District claimed that the Republicans have no alternative to the Democrats’ healthcare proposals. I have given H.R. 3400 as an example of that not being true. There is at least one other Republican bill in the House of Representatives which I downloaded on September 8, 2009. This one is H.R. 2520 which I also found at http://www.house.gov/.

I wonder why Representative Phil Hare is NOT capable of finding the same material. Perhaps he should explain! He should also explain why he voted for the Senate bill that allows the MURDER of unborn babies to be financed by all the people and why he believes the federal government has the power to tell we the people what we must purchase.

There are a lot of liberals who need to be retired this year, but there are few I can think of more deserving than Keith Ellison. Ellison is one of the most radical members of congress. He has a ZERO rating from the American Conservative Union. He is the only Muslim member of congress. He supports the Counsel for American Islamic Relations, HAMAS and has helped congress send millions of tax to terrorists in Gaza.

Lynne Torgerson is a good conservative, opposing the lunacy that Ellison brings to congress.

My views regarding abortion are consistent with the Catholic Church. Life begins at conception. With all due respect, abortion is simply wrong. However, I do not condemn those who have undergone such a procedure, but rather, I have compassion for them. Women are traumatized by the abortions they have had, I believe, for the rest of their lives. Also, any woman who has suffered a miscarriage is terribly grieved, and knows that she lost her baby, her child. I would also oppose legislation which supports using embryonic stem cells for research or other purposes. It is not appropriate for us to decide to sacrifice one life for another.

1 Man, 1 Woman Marriage

Again, my views here are consistent with the Catholic church. I would be in favor of laws supporting one (1) man one (1) woman marriage. Marriage was actually created by God, and God created it between a man and a woman. Thus, anything else is actually not marriage, even though some would try to call it that.

Right to Bear Arms/Second Amendment

I support the 2nd Amendment. This has already been established by the United States Supreme Court. I am a gun owner myself. I read a book recently, which went over the history of the 2nd Amendment. Interestedly, the 2nd Amendment was promulgated for two reasons. One was for self defense; to protect oneself against others. The other I was surprised by. The other reason was to protect oneself from the government. I found that very interesting.

The book also pointed out that back in the 1600 or 1700s, people were required to own a gun, and, were required to have a certain minimum amount of ammunition. If one didn't have enough ammunition, they were fined. This is the context in which the 2nd Amendment was promulgated. Hence, there is substantial historical support for the right to bear arms.

Immigration

The following expressed by our former President, is a valid position:

‘In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American ... There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile ... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.’—Theodore Roosevelt”
