Which leads to the following announcement before tonight’s post: As some may know, I don’t post on Sundays. I’m also not posting Monday—Labor Day. Hopefully, I’ll have a Tuesday post written and post then. If not, I certainly should begin posting again on Wednesday.
I received the following information earlier this week. Because the event occurs on a Sunday and I try not to do work/politics on Sunday and I wasn’t going to be available anyway, I was not going to post the information. However, I did not post about the Tea Parties that occurred April 15th earlier this year because I was just wrapping up tax season and didn’t have the time. Consequently, I decided to post the following in case some are interested even if I am not. The original e-mail is from http://www.illinoisfamily.org/ which is an organization that regularly e-mails me information.
The e-mail and follow up responses put into my format:
“From: IFI E-Alert Sent: Wednesday, September 02, 2009 11:34 AM
Subject: Bloomington Tea Party Rally
The National Tea Party Express is coming to Bloomington, Illinois.
Miller Park1020 S. Morris AvenueBloomington, IL 61701Sunday, September 6th 5:00 P.M.
From August 28th to September 12th, the Tea Party Express bus is touring across the country hosting tea party rallies across America. We’re speaking out against the out-of-control tax-and-spend policies and unprecedented power grab of our government. Please join us.
FOX News On Bus To Cover Our Event Leading To Final Rally in Washington, D.C. September 12. (If you attend, you might be on TV—my addition.)
Please plan to attend to help change the tide of what is happening in our country. Bring a friend, bring flag or sign as well (try to keep them respectful). [Don’t try. Keep them respectful. The cause is hurt when people behave poorly. Let the other side behave poorly if they must. We don’t want to do the same!—my addition] Feel free to bring a blanket or lawn chair. Ample parking is available.”
I received the following e-mail, along with others on the same e-mail list, as a response to the above e-mail about the event.
“My Bloomington-Normal visitors’ guide says Miller Park has a bandstand, pavilion, beach, etc. Several of us from Morton and Pekin are thinking of coming to greet the Tea Party Express. Where will gathering be in the park? Where is most convenient parking? Is Morris a one-way street? We would be coming into Bloomington either on Route 150 Mitsubishi Motorway or I-74/I-55 to perhaps Route 9/MarketStreet. Please advise.”
The above e-mail generated this response:
“Date: Thu, 3 Sep 2009 08:17:41 -0700Subject: Re: Where in Miller Park?
Morris is 2 way. The rally will be at the bandstand. There is parking all over the park along the streets and there are parking lots.
The event is going to be huge. People are coming from Missouri and Iowa as well as all over Central Illinois. If you want to come on Route 9, I’d get a map. I don’t know the west side that well.”
