The Tragedy of the Newtown, Connecticut Shootings

It has been all over the local and national mainstream media outlets. It was the focus of the President’s weekly radio address. The Republican Party deferred to the President and did not give its “opposition” party weekly address. Flags all over the nation are flying at half staff. It seems that a lone gunman entered an elementary school and wantonly murdered 20 kindergarten students and half a dozen adults including himself. It is treated as a tragedy and rightly so. It is a tragedy.

However, the same people of the same nation will go about their daily lives once again and the massacre will soon fade into the collective memory of the nation. Some will try to bring about changes they desire by using this tragedy to attempt once again to place more and more gun restrictions upon the American people. (Satan’s concept of never letting a “good” tragedy go to waste. Yes, I know. Some people claim not to believe in Satan and therefore because they don’t believe in Satan, Satan does not exist.) They will, in practice, blame guns for the murders. They will argue that if there were no more guns or extreme gun restrictions such mass murders would not occur. They will surmise that more mental health facilities and professionals are needed (I’m hearing this even from conservatives.) as if such actions are the result of a mental health problem. If only we could cure mental illness! Then all would be well with the world!

However, the rationales are wrong. The problem is SIN and man will never solve the problem of SIN! Actually, man, in general, doesn’t even try to solve SIN. Instead, the goal seems to be to deny that SIN exists. Thus, it is claimed, all things are relative. The same action is acceptable in some circumstances and greatly condemned in other instances though not as SIN. Then, of course, it is necessary to rationalize why the same action is acceptable in some instances and why it is abhorrent in others.

Gut wrenching, horrific, unforgivable, unimaginable, and similar references to this specific tragedy in Newtown are commonly voiced. And yet, on that specific Friday a similar tragedy was occurring with very little notice and this tragedy is considered to be “legal,”—sanctioned by the federal government. The tragedy is the wanton MURDER of innocent unborn babies by their mothers, often with the approval of their fathers, and accomplished/accompanied by people who are suppose to protect life. And many of the same people of the same nation will go about their daily lives and the continuing massacre will never be mentioned or worse will be defended as a “right” of the mother. Never will be heard from these individuals such descriptive terms as gut wrenching, horrific, unforgivable, terrible, unimaginable.

It is estimated that over 1,000,000 “legalized” MURDERS of innocent unborn babies occurs every year within the United States. Using 1,000,000 MURDERS of innocent unborn babies each year as a starting point:

1) Approximately 2,740 MURDERED innocent unborn babies every day.

2) Approximately 114 MURDERED innocent unborn babies every hour.

3) Approximately 2 MURDERED innocent unborn babies every minute of every hour.

And the MURDERS are rationalized away or worse defended as a “right” of the mother.

Where is the outrage among the general population?

Where is the tragedy?

The nation mourns for those massacred in Newtown, Connecticut.

Where is the mourning for the continuing massacre of innocent unborn babies that occurs every day within the United States as sanctioned by the federal government?

Where is the President speaking out for their lost lives?

Matthew 13: 13-15 (NIV)

“This is why I (JESUS, the CHRIST—my addition) speak to them in parables:

‘Though seeing, they do not see;
though hearing, they do not hear or understand.
In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah:

‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding;
You will be ever seeing but never perceiving.
For this people’s heart has become calloused;
They hardly hear with their ears,
And they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
Hear with their ears,
Understand with their hearts
And turn, and I would heal them.’”

II Timothy 3: 1-5 (NIV)

“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.”

Each person is personally responsible for his own words and his own actions. Each person will be held accountable by GOD. Evil comes from Satan through man; NOT from GOD!
