“Is Voting Optional For Christians?

‘Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands far away; for truth has stumbled in the public squares, and uprightness cannot enter.’ ~Isaiah 59: 14

‘Evil men don’t understand the importance of justice, but those who follow the Lord are much concerned about it.’ ~Proverbs 28: 5

‘Public service, my son, must always be done by somebody ... If wise men decline it, others will not; if honest men refuse it, others will not.’ ~John Adams

‘If America is to survive, we must elect God-centered men and women to public office—individuals who will seek Divine guidance in the affairs of state.’ ~Billy Graham, Evangelist

Why must Christians vote?

1) Voting is a responsibility. All governments and authorities are established by God,

including ours in which representatives are chosen by election. He commands us to ‘render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s.’ Who is the authority in the United States? The first three words of our Constitution say it is ‘We the People…’ Thus we have a sacred responsibility to vote. Romans 13: 1, Matthew 22: 21

2) Voting is part of loving our neighbor. Jesus tells us that the two great commandments are to ‘love the Lord with all your soul and with all your mind’ and to ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’ If we truly love our neighbors, we should be concerned about the kinds of policies our elected officials enact. Electing godly men and women to office who will enact family-friendly policies is a must. Matthew 22: 36-40

3) Voting is part of our calling to be ‘salt’ and ‘light’ in our culture. Matthew 5: 13-16

4) Voting can be a godly influence in society. By voting our biblical values, we promote a ‘peaceful and quiet’ society, with ‘all godliness and dignity.’ Thus we contribute to a social environment that encourages people ‘to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.’ 1 Timothy 2: 2-4

5) Voting biblical values uplifts our nation. ‘Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.’ Proverbs 14: 34

6) Voting according to biblical criteria transforms our leadership. Although no candidate is perfect, choosing leaders who are most capable, God-fearing, trustworthy and hate dishonest gain, changes our government and our nation for good. Exodus 18: 21

7) VOTE Your Values on Nov. 2nd !!!
