Petition—hold Congress’s feet to the fire

I believe I received this petition yesterday. Since it is time sensitive, I am posting it today. The concept of holding the feet of the Congress to the fire is also a concept that I believe must be applied to the federal judiciary as well. Therefore, it fits in well with my third point on what the House of Representatives must do in this session which I hope to resume tomorrow. The Petition:

From: Liberty Counsel

"Go here to sign our bold new ‘Hold Their Feet to the Fire’ petition, which will be delivered on January 24th, just days prior to the President’s State of the Union address:"

“Liberty Counsel Petition:

Tell Congress, ‘I’m Holding Your Feet to the Fire!’
Show your Support of Representative Darrell Issa’s Investigations into Governmental Wrongdoings, Corruption, and Misinformation!

Darrell Issa (R-CA), the new Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, announced he will ‘pursue an agenda that aims to shed light on the failures of government for the purpose of reforming them so that the government is more transparent and accountable to the American people.’

We strongly support Chairman Issa’s mission!

Hold Their Feet to the Fire

Liberty Counsel’s ‘Hold Their Feet to the Fire’ petition and campaign gives citizens like you a powerful, effective means to tell the 112th Congress to cooperate with Representative Issa and the other members of the Oversight Committee in the execution and completion of their investigations. Chairman Issa has already published a list of initial targets for his committee’s investigation and Liberty Counsel will strongly urge him to include additional areas that are of deep concern to you and other pro-moral Americans.

The government must become more transparent and accountable to the American people!

Our new ‘Hold Their Feet to the Fire’ Petition states:

As a concerned citizen, I am putting the 112th Congress on notice that I will hold your feet to the fire to fulfill what ‘We The People’ demanded from the Obama Administration, our elected representatives, and federal agencies in the 2010 midterm elections: A more transparent government process, less intrusion, and a sharp turn away from the radical socialistic agenda!

Furthermore, I support Chairman Darrell Issa and the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee in their mission and investigations of the following issues and events, among others:

1) The failure of the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission to agree on the causes of the market meltdown of 2008 and the spending of Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) money.

2) Government ‘hyper-regulation’ negatively affecting the economy and job creation.

3) The roles of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in the ongoing mortgage foreclosure crisis.

4) Possible corruption in the administration of the war against world-wide terrorism.

In addition to these areas of concern, I strongly urge Chairman Issa and the Oversight Committee to investigate:

5) Federal funding of Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry in general.

6) Federal funding of National Public Radio (NPR), the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), and other highly politicized agencies that should be defunded, especially in a time of recession and massive government deficits.

I am calling on current and former members of Congress, the Obama Administration, and governmental agencies to fully cooperate in the Oversight Committee’s execution and completion of these investigations.”
