Conservative Blacks, the Tea Party, and a Liberal Democrat’s Apparent Ignorance!!!

I just saw these videos yesterday, except for the Wisconsin “riot” video, and want to comment on them. The material without comments is posted today. Comments tomorrow, the LORD willing. Monday, the analysis of the Iowa Straw vote, hopefully.

I apologize for some of the language. Normally, I would not post this video because of it. However, I want to make a point based upon this video in my comments on this post tomorrow.

“Garofalo: Herman Cain ‘Being Paid To Run,’ Has Stockholm Syndrome

Liberal activist and actress Janeane Garofalo appeared on Keith Olbermann’s ‘Countdown’ show on the Current TV network Wednesday night. Garofalo went on several rants, one of which included accusing the Tea Party, which she calls a ‘fundamentalist’ movement, of racism.

Garofalo also said successful businessman Herman Cain is either being paid to run or is suffering from Stockholm syndrome because he is a ‘person of color’ running as a Republican in the party’s presidential primary.

‘[He’s] in this presidential race because he deflects the racism that is inherent in the Republican party, the conservative movement, the Tea Party certainly. [In] the last 30 years the Republican party has been moving more and more to the right, but also race-baiting more. Gay-baiting more. Religion-baiting more,’ Garofalo said.

‘But, Herman Cain, I feel like, is being paid by somebody to be involved and to run for president so that you go like ‘I love that, that can’t be racist. He’s a black guy, a black guy asking for Obama being impeached.’ Or ‘it’s a black guy whose anti-Muslim. It’s a black guy who is a Tea Party guy.’’

Garofalo also had some conspiracy theories as to who may be putting Cain up to this.

‘And I feel like wouldn’t that suit the purposes of whomever astroturfs these things. Whether that be the Koch brothers or Grover Norquist or any anything. It could even be Karl Rove. ‘Let’s get Herman Cain involved so it deflects the obvious racism of our Republican party,’’ Garofalo said.

‘Would that be separate from his delusions of grandeur or are they just taking advantage of him?’ host Keith Olbermann asked.

Ms. Garofalo disagreed but had another reason for why she thinks Cain is in the race which includes diagnosing him with Stockholm syndrome.

‘He’s a businessman,’ she said sarcastically. ‘Who ever pays him. And there may be a touch of Stockholm syndrome. There may be a touch of Stockholm syndrome in there because anytime I see a person of color or a female in the Republican party or the conservative movement or the Tea Party, I wonder how they could be trying to curry with the oppressors. Is it Stockholm syndrome or does somebody pay them?’

Though, she had some praise for Sarah Palin, again Garofalo concludes her involvement with the Republican party and the Tea Party is some sort of self-loathing.

‘I have no idea if they’re nuts or they are opportunists or if they enjoy the attention or the money. Whatever it is. I would say the same thing for any female involved in conservative politics or the conservative movement or any kind of fundamentalist movement. If you’re supportive of it and involved in it or enthusiastic about it—is it Stockholm syndrome? Is it a self-loathing issue?’ Ms. Garofalo wondered. ‘And believe me, I know what I’m talking about with self-loathing, but not to that degree.’

‘But Sarah Palin, I believe is a charismatic person who does very well. I don’t know why anyone supports Bachmann or Palin. Them being nuts has nothing to do with gender. Nothing to do with gender,’ Garofalo said.

Before the segment was over Ms. Garofalo circled back to her thesis that the Tea Party is a racist movement, or something.

‘The Tea Party is so obviously racist. So obviously—and also, the Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks hate groups in this country. Hate groups in this country are at an all time high, record highs and have been spiking since Obama announced. I don’t think that’s a coincidence. Racism is apart of the fabric of this country, unfortunately,’ Garofalo said. ‘How could it not exist when there is a black president?’”

“Update: AP Now Reports Black Wisconsin Teen Admitted He Was Targeting Whites
Posted on August 12, 2011 at 9:20am by Jonathon M. Seidl

Earlier this week it was reported that police in Wisconsin were not going to charge black teens who engaged in mob-style attacks at the state fair with hate crimes. That’s despite the fact that frantic 911 calls and eyewitness reports said the teens were specifically targeting whites. Now, the Associated Press is reporting that one of those teens has admitted to targeting whites because they were ‘easy targets.’ And police are now recommending he face hate crime charges.

This is the AP report (via WLS-890 Am RADIO):

‘The investigation into 11 of the violent incidents on the opening night of the Wisconsin State Fair has resulted in the arrest of a 16-year-old African-American who reportedly told investigators he targeted whites.

West Allis police said Thursday the teen was arrested late Wednesday. The Milwaukee teen was booked on suspicion of attempted robbery and robbery. Police recommend that he face additional penalties for hate crimes.

Police say the teen told investigators whites were chosen because he considered them ‘easy targets.’

On opening night of the fair last week, 31 people were arrested and at least 11 people were hurt. The West Allis Police Department has said race was a factor in the 11 violent incidents it’s investigating.’

The State Fair has stepped up security since the attacks.”

On Wednesday, however, the West Allis police department released a statement saying that “none” of the attacks ‘possessed elements’ that would prompt hate crime prosecution:

‘The police department issued a statement with details of arrests, saying ‘None of these incidents possessed elements that would compel the pursuance of a ‘hate crime’ prosecution.’

‘Witnesses reported attacks on the opening night of the fair that seemed to be racially motivated with young African Americans beating up white fair goers, but police say at this point there is not enough evidence to support such claims.’

That seems to contradict the AP report.

It also seems to contradict the Justice Department’s definition of a hate crime: the ‘violence of intolerance and bigotry, intended to hurt and intimidate someone because of their race, ethnicity, national origin, religious, sexual orientation, or disability.’

The question that remains, then, is: Was the teen attacking victims because he saw their color as making them weak and views whites as an inherently weaker race? Based on the recommendation by the police that he face hat crime charges, yes.

If so, the police may want to revisit some of the other charges.”
