“First, some bad news: Senate Democrats are STILL blocking an anti-human trafficking bill because it contains a provision stopping federal funds from being used to pay for abortions (As far as I know they still are today—my addition). If you haven’t already, please contact your two U.S. Senators and urge them NOT to cater to the abortion industry over victims of trafficking (One authored the bill the other is Ted Cruz! I think they know my position! It is the same as theirs!—my addition). My team will keep you updated as the situation progresses …

Now, some encouraging news: As you likely know, there’s been an explosion of pro-life activity at the state level. Since the 2010 elections—when an historic number of pro-life lawmakers were swept into office at all levels of government—an incredible 231 pro-life laws have been enacted in the states (We need to end abortion/MURDER altogether! Starting the process can be done in the States!—my addition).

That trend is continuing in 2015, and progress is especially being made in efforts to enact state versions of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.

Last week, the West Virginia legislature passed the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act in historic fashion, overriding Governor Earl Ray Tomblin’s veto—making it the first time since 1987 a Governor’s veto has been overridden (Covered this in an earlier post!—my addition). Despite the extreme position taken by West Virginia’s pro-abortion governor, this commonsense, women-led bill passed by a bi-partisan supermajority in the West Virginia assembly.

As you may remember, the West Virginia legislature passed this bill last year, but Governor Tomblin vetoed it, and the legislature wasn’t able to override it. But, thanks to major pro-life victories in 2014, the legislature is under new pro-life leadership that got the job done.

National Pro-Life Women’s Caucus Director Sue Swayze [pictured below] was on the ground in West Virginia providing support for the courageous women legislators who led this effort to protect pain-capable unborn babies and their mothers.

West Virginia is now the 14th state to enact pain-capable legislation. And other states are ready to step up and advance this bill as well:

• South Carolina: Women-led bill passed the House, awaits a Senate hearing

• Ohio: W omen-led bills introduced just this week

• Wisconsin: Women-led bill introduction is imminent; Governor Scott Walker has pledged to sign

• Maryland: Women-led bills being introduced in House and Senate (This will be more difficult! Hostile blue Democrat State! General Assembly is Democrat. Governor is Republican—my addition)

And as we continue to make progress in the states, it is time for the U.S. Congress to step up and advance this bill!

Take Action Now: Contact your Representative and two U.S. Senators and tell them that you want to see a vote on the federal Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.
