“I’m illegal. So What?”

How many unborn toddlers were murdered today because of the humanistic, paganish decisions of the United States Supreme Court?

Stop the
Murder of
Unborn
Toddlers

“Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins.” James 4: 17 (NIV)

Three stories of interest were printed in the Peoria Journal Star on May 2, 2007. The lead story on Page A1 was “Bush rejects Iraq war bill.” President Bush has repeatedly promised to do just that so the veto was not a surprise and will not be discussed tonight. On page A3, the headline declared “Immigrants call for action.” (In my opinion the headline should have more accurately stated “Illegal immigrants call for action.”) On page B3, the headline asserted “Land of Liberty gets new citizens.” Tonight, I discuss portions of the last two stories.

Quoting from segments of “Immigrants call for action”: “Immigration rallies held across the country Tuesday produced only a fraction of the million –plus protesters who turned out last year, as fear of raids and frustration that marches haven’t pushed Congress to pass reform kept many at home.”

“Organizers had long predicted lower turnouts for this year’s marches, saying an increase in immigration raids in recent months have left many immigrants afraid to speak out in public. That’s a change since rallies in 2006, when some illegal immigrants wore T-shirts saying ‘I’m illegal. So what?’”

This particular story has ten paragraphs. The previously quoted paragraph is paragraph seven. This is the first paragraph in the story that actually uses the word illegal. Before this paragraph when immigration is used the modifying truth of illegal immigration is not used. The “reform” that these demonstrators are demanding is to allow illegal immigrants to become American citizens although one would hardly know it by reading the story.

Quoting paragraph nine of the ten paragraph article, “But smaller crowds does not mean the movement to win a path to citizenship for 12 million illegal immigrants has lost momentum, organizers said.”

There you have it. It is not until the ninth paragraph of a ten paragraph story that the actual purpose of the marches is revealed. Illegal immigrants who violated our laws to sneak into our country now believe they have the right to demand that we grant them American citizenship.

They are demanding American citizenship! They came into this country illegally meaning they are criminals although not often arrested. They are tried for their crime even less often. They ask the question: “So what?”! They steal jobs from Americans. They ask the question “So what?”! Because they increase the labor supply, they tend to lower the wages of workers (basic supply and demand theory). Yet, they ask the question: “So what?”! Now, they are demanding American citizenship and libertine Democrats are asking the question: “So what’s the harm?” and declaring “Let’s give citizenship to illegal immigrants!”

Quoting from the third story mentioned in tonight’s post, “After waiting for seven years and taking the citizenship test, she took the oath Tuesday afternoon in a naturalization ceremony at the U.S. District Courthouse in Downtown Peoria. Afterwards, the Morton woman said she now feels a sense of accomplishment.”

“Just shy of 100 people representing 34 countries took the oath at two ceremonies. …, the new citizens swore allegiance to the Stars and Stripes in what U.S. Magistrate Judge John Gorman called a renewal of the American experience.”

“All (three—my addition) are from Slovakia and all three were naturalized Tuesday after being in the country for at least a decade.”

“The ceremony came on a day when hundreds of thousands of people were protesting across the United States for immigration reform. Lindsey (one of the almost 100 people who became naturalized citizens—my addition) said she doesn’t believe in an amnesty program for those who entered the country illegally.

‘If you do the right thing, fill out the paperwork and be patient, it will be okay,’ said Lindsey, who has been in the country seven years.”

“So what?” This is why “So what?” There is a right way and a wrong way to immigrate into this country. There is a legal way and an illegal way to immigrate into this country. The method of immigration into this country is established by law by Congress. The method of immigration was established after public debate and in the manner prescribed by the United States Constitution.

Immigrants should do not have the power to change the laws by coming into this country illegally. To grant them citizenship after they deliberately and knowingly violated those laws is to make a mockery of those laws and the procedure use to establish those laws. Who makes law in this nation? Illegal immigrants or Congress. To grant citizenship to individuals who deliberately violated our laws is the same as “kicking in the teeth” those individuals who are trying to follow our laws to enter into the United States legally as required by Congress. Won’t it be interesting to see if the present Democratically controlled Congress declares that previous law passed by previous Congresses should be ignored?

“So what?” Are we a nation of law or are we a nation coddling law breakers? Illegal immigrants should not be given citizenship as a reward for violating our laws. It is insanity!!!

Below is my post on May 2, 2006 after the original immigration march demanding citizenship occurred. (If I counted correctly, I also had eight other posts dealing with immigration during May and June last year including a letter sent by Senator Durbin. You may want to check them out too.)

Tuesday, May 2, 2006 Immigration, Immigration, Immigration

Under normal circumstances, I support free trade. Under normal circumstances, I support open immigration. We are a nation of immigrants. My grandparents on my mother’s side immigrated to the United States. However, these are not normal times. We are at war with terrorists and they want to destroy us.

I also support the laws of the United States when they do not violate GOD’S commands and will. An illegal immigrant is any immigrant who came into this country in violation of our immigration laws.

They may not like those laws. Some citizens of this nation may not like them. However, they are the governing rules passed by freely elected members of Congress and approved by the President of the United States. They are the laws of the land in relation to immigration. Immigrants do not have the right to rewrite the laws by illegally entering and staying in the United States.

A hot-button issue is immigration. Illegal immigrants are demanding changes. On the front page of the Peoria Journal Star today (5/2/06) is a picture of a sign declaring “We are WORKERS Not CRIMINALS!” WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! By definition, if they crossed over into this country illegally, they may be workers but they are also criminals.

Another sign (page A6, Peoria Journal Star, 5/2/06) proclaimed “No human should be ILLEGAL!” And they are not. Being a human does not make one illegal. However, actions taken by that human are sometimes illegal. A human who murders another human has probably violated a law. The human isn’t illegal; the action taken by the human is illegal. The human who crosses our border illegally has violated our laws. It has nothing to do with him being human. Such nonsense demonstrates the ignorance of their position on the issue.

One proposal being discussed is to establish a method to allow illegal immigrants to obtain citizenship. What utter drivel!!! The proposal would reward people who deliberately and knowingly violated our laws. (In some other countries such violations would more likely get the people shot rather than reward them with citizenship.)

If this proposal becomes law, one situation is almost certain to occur. More illegal immigrants will come to the United States hoping to achieve the same results.
Government should not reward illegal acts!!!

It is similar to the following scenario. A home owner does not lock his doors or windows. An individual walks into the owner’s home, takes a few things as his own, washes the dishes, and hides in the attic for a period of time. After awhile, he leaves the house. Later, he returns. He takes a few more things, washes the dishes, and again hides in the attic.

This goes on for a few years and then one day he hears the home owner suggest to his family that the family should begin to lock all doors and windows. Upset, the home invader begins to picket the home owner and his family. He declares that the home owner is unfair, prejudice, and not treating him properly.

Soon after, he knocks on the owner’s front door. He announces to the home owner and his family that he has decided to live permanently in one of the rooms. He has a court order which allows him to do so. Of course, the home owner graciously allows him to take up permanent residency in his home since he has been unofficially living there for some time and now he has government approval for the arrangement.

Makes sense to me! NOT!!!
