On May 2, 2008 the Peoria Journal Star printed a story on page A5 about nationwide immigrant rallies held the previous day demanding immigration reform. The title of the story was “‘We’re people. We have rights.’” The sub-headline declared “Thousands rally in May Day effort for immigration reform.” A picture was also included with the story. The caption under the picture stated “Participants carry a quilt made of the flags from many nations (How honestly do these ILLEGAL immigrants want to be U.S. citizens when they are carrying flags of many nations?—my addition) during an immigration march and protest Thursday on their way to the federal building in Chicago. Thousands gathered around the country to rally for reform.” I first commented on a portion of this story on my post of May 6th “Immigration reform, part 3.” Let’s look again at two paragraphs from that story.

The first paragraph says: “A crowd of about 1,000 gathered on the steps of the Oregon Capitol in Salem to call for changes in immigration and workplace laws within the first 100 days of the next congressional session. Many demanded that Oregon reverse a decision, imposed (Notice the choice of words in this story. The law was IMPOSED not passed—my addition.) by the Legislature in February, to require proof of legal residence to get a driver’s license.” (WOW! What a terrible imposition for the Legislature to impose upon people who drive in Oregon. They actually must be legal in order to get a driver’s license. Is that barbaric or what? Next thing you know, the Legislature will require a voter to be legal and to have valid identification to register to vote and to vote. Again, how unfair!—my addition)

The first sentence of the paragraph declares “A crowd of about 1,000 gathered on the steps of the Oregon Capitol in Salem to call for changes in immigration and workplace laws within the first 100 days of the next congressional session.” Since 2006, there has been a push to change the laws of the nation to give citizenship to ILLEGAL immigrants. President Bush, who has been right in many instances, has been wrong on this issue since he supported legislation to grant such citizenship. Primarily, conservative Republicans prevented the granting of citizenship by refusing to support the needed legislation.

The second paragraph which was the concluding paragraph in the story stated the following: “Democratic presidential rivals Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton supported a 2006 bill, sponsored by Republican candidate John McCain (along with others—my addition), that offered ILLEGAL (My capitalization—my addition.) immigrants legal status on conditions such as learning English. All three also have supported a border fence.”

Consequently, at least in the recent past, both candidates (whether Mr. Obama or Ms. Clinton receives the Democratic nomination does not matter in this instance—both supported citizenship for ILLEGAL immigrants) for the two major parties for the Presidency have supported citizenship for ILLEGAL immigrants. It therefore becomes all that more important to ELECT members to Congress who WILL NOT VOTE to give away our nation to ILLEGAL immigrants.

The election of 2008 is going to be extremely important in many aspects. One of the most important of which will be whether or not this nation caves in to the obscene demand that ILLEGAL immigrants be allowed to have citizenship even though they have deliberately and knowingly violated our laws. The choice is in the hands of the voters. PRAY that they vote wisely. Pray that we will NOT elect Congressmen who will give away our nation.

In my opinion, it would not and should not matter if every single ILLEGAL immigrant was a model “citizen” once they took up residency in this country. The fact that they came to this nation illegally—violated our laws to get here—precludes each and every one of them from being granted citizenship. If an individual steals a million dollars and then proceeds to live an exemplary life because of that ill-gotten gain, should we then forgive the original crime? If an individual illegally breaks into a house owned and occupied by another and proceeds to clean the house, should we then give that individual ownership of the house? Should an individual benefit from his or her illegal acts when others, who follow the legal procedures, receive no such benefit?

It is INSANITY to reward illegal acts!!! It will only encourage similar actions in the future!!! The thought process: If my friend was given citizenship even though he entered the United States illegally violating the law, then I too should enter the country illegally and receive that same benefit.

WHAT ARE SOME OF OUR POLITICIANS THINKING!!! I’M WAITING FOR EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THESE SAME POLITICIANS TO GIVE THEIR OWN HOUSE OVER TO AN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT TO SHOW THEIR APPRECIATION FOR THEIR (the illegal immigrants) DEDICATION TO OUR NATION!!! Do you think it will happen? THEY WOULD MUCH RATHER HAND OVER OUR NATION!!!
