“Hate crimes” part 8

Update2: Tuesday morning, the blogsite said that there was going to be another outage Wednesday morning. Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, I counted four different times when thunderstorms rolled through the area. Consequently, I did not sleep much that night. Wednesday morning when I usually post, it was storming for the fourth time. Therefore, I decided not to post then and to do it Wednesday night. If the following is posted Wednesday night, I’ll probably continue to post at night through Saturday. Then, I hope to start posting again early Monday morning.
The following is from the American Family Association. I received it in early May. Although it is a solicitation for donations, which I have edited out, it contains information relevant to the discussion of the “hate crimes” bill which is presently being considered by the U.S. Senate after already being passed by the U.S. House of Representatives. The website for the Association is http://www.afa.net/. The letter as edited with some of my comments:
“‘I have posted watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest….’ Isaiah 62: 6 (NIV)
Christians are in jeopardy of losing the culture war. In fact, as I write this letter, news has just come that the Iowa Supreme Court has legalized same-sex marriage in that state.
That is discouraging. But like you, I’m not willing to give up and let evil win. (Unfortunately, far too many people seem to be willing to give up. Those involved in homosexual behavior are a very small number in this nation and yet they have convinced a major political party that they somehow have a constitutional “right” to be involved in this detestable behavior (“‘Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.’” Leviticus 18: 22 [NIV]) and receive special protect by governments to live this life of sin. How depraved have we become as a nation? Special, select groups have a “right” to sin!—my addition)
Our nation is in great peril. A major reason is that every institution in our society has been challenged to accept homosexuality as normal (and as a “right”—my addition), and to a large degree all have reluctantly agreed (including far too many Christians who know better Biblically and yet are too comfortable in their middle-class lifestyles to do anything about it except some minor complaining and “wringing of hands”—my addition).
And now that Barack (Hussein—my addition) Obama is president, our fight is more desperate than ever. To understand why, read the enclosed article titled ‘End of the culture war?’ (I plan to post this article tomorrow—my addition.) and published in the March issue of the ‘AFA Journal.’ The bottom line is this: President Obama will likely use the full weight of our government to IMPOSE (my capitalization—my addition) on our society the acceptance of an unhealthy, immoral lifestyle that includes so-called “same-sex marriage.” (And the first legalized step in this process is the passage and enforcement of the so-called “hate crimes” bill. Incremental legalization of immorality and depravity!—my addition)
I, for one, am not going to let him succeed without a fight! (We are at WAR with sin! Do enough Christians realize this?—my addition) And I’m counting on you and others to join me in what could be the final battle against the radical homosexual movement.
With malice toward none, your AFA opposes the normalization of the homosexual lifestyle for four basic reasons:
1) Homosexuality violates clear Biblical teaching.
2) Homosexuality undermines the marriage covenant and destroys the family as ordained by God.
3) The inclusion of a pro-homosexual ideology into our public schools poses an imminent threat to our children’s moral and religious beliefs. (That pro-homosexual ideology is already in some schools and colleges! Government endorsement of homosexual behavior will INDOCTRINATE and has INDOCTRINATED some young minds that there is NOTHING wrong with homosexual behavior—my addition.)
4) As the latest manifestation of the Sexual Revolution, the homosexual agenda is helping to pervert society with a self-centered orientation to life. No republic can survive when its citizens are focused on the ‘good of self’ as opposed to the ‘good of the country,’ as a whole.
[5) My addition: The destruction of the United States as we know it. GOD will not let sin thrive indefinitely. We WILL be disciplined at some point as HE determines.]
Our nation’s founders understood the fragile nature of democracy. They knew the republic’s survival depended on citizens being grounded in moral absolutes that come not from man, but from God Almighty. Read what George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin and Alexander Hamilton said. (Provided below—my addition.)
George Washington: “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. … It is substantially true, that virtue or morality is a necessary spring of popular government. The rule, indeed, extends with more or less force to every species of free government. Who, that is a sincere friend to it, can look with indifference upon attempts to shake the foundation of the fabric?”
George Washington: “Democracy can only flourish, as your founding fathers realized, when political leaders and those whom they represent are guided by truth and bring the wisdom born of firm moral principle to decisions affecting the life and future of the nation.” (If true and I think it is, we, as a nation, are in DEEP trouble!—my addition)
Benjamin Franklin: “I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth—that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid?” (Or, continue to be a righteous nation without his aid?—my addition)
John Adams: “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” (And yet, a basic tenet of the original Christian, Judaic, and Islam religions all condemned homosexual behavior as immoral and perverted. Today, the United States Senate (the House already has) is trying to declare that that behavior is a “right” which must have greater protection bestowed upon it. Oh, how we have changed and are sinning!—my addition)
Thomas Jefferson: “[C]an the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are a gift from God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, and that His justice cannot sleep forever.” (Obviously, there are some in our government that are NOT concerned about GOD’S JUSTICE and WRATH! They seem to believe HIS JUSTICE will sleep forever!)
Alexander Hamilton: “Does it (national morality) not require the aid of a generally received and divinely authoritative religion?”
Once our moral foundation is destroyed, the entire nation will collapse. And that, my friend, is where we are headed.
The enclosed ‘Not on My Watch’ clearly expresses to President Obama that you will resist any attempt to force the acceptance of such depraved behavior by calling it normal, moral, healthy or good.
There is little time left. We must cry out to our fellow citizens and warn them that the enemy is at the gates and that our nation, our families and our future are in moral peril. (AGREED!—my addition)
If we want the nation to survive and prosper—not so much for ourselves, but for our children and grandchildren—then we must restore to our society values that reflect Biblical principles.” (We MUST restore values that reflect Biblical principles because those principles are the only righteous principles that exist! Man can NOT exist without GOD and HIS righteousness!—my addition)
