Healthcare and MURDER—the Waxman revote on the Pitts Amendment

The Pitts Amendment:

Joseph Pitts [R] (Pennsylvania—16th District)
420 Cannon House Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20515
www.house.gov/pitts (Website)

“AMENDMENT TO THE AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE TO H.R. 3200

OFFERED BY MR. PITTS OF PENNSYLVANIA

At an appropriate place in division A, insert the following:

1 SEC. lll. LIMITATION ON ABORTION MANDATES.

No provision of this Act (or an amendment made by this Act) shall impose, or shall be construed to impose, any requirement for coverage of abortion, or access to abortion, or to authorize or permit the recommendation for, or imposition of, any such requirement by or through the Health Benefits Advisory Committee, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, the Health Choices Commissioner, or any other government or quasi-government entity, except in the case where a woman suffers from a physical disorder, physical injury, or physical illness that would, as certified by a physician, place the woman in danger of death unless an abortion is performed, including a life-endangering physical condition caused by or arising from the pregnancy itself, or unless the pregnancy is the result of an act of forcible rape or incest.”

This amendment presented in the House Energy and Commerce Committee by Representative Joseph Pitts of Pennsylvania was originally passed by a 31 to 27 vote. However, one of the 31 yes votes was from the Committee Chairman Henry Waxman,

who originally voted no on the amendment and then after the votes were cast changed his vote to a yes. This was a parliamentary maneuver to allow him to call the amendment for a second vote.

The second vote resulted in a reversal of the result. The amendment failed by a 29-30 vote—29 votes in favor of the amendment and 30 votes in opposition to the amendment. All Republicans on the committee voted in favor of the amendment on both votes.

The Republicans who voted for the amendment include:

You will recall that earlier in this post I said the amendment “originally passed by a 31 to 27 vote.” If only Chairman Waxman changed his vote from yes to no on the revote, the vote would still be 30 to 28 and the amendment would have still passed. So what happened?

The following is from the website—http://www.thehill.com/—and was posted on July 31, 2009.
“On the Democratic side, all but one Blue Dog—Rep. Zack Space (D-Ohio) who did not vote (on the first vote—my addition)—supported the amendment. (‘I just missed the first vote,’ said Space, who went on to vote against the amendment.)” [on the revote—my addition] Now, the vote is 30 in favor of the amendment and 29 in opposition. But wait, that’s not all that happened. The following is from the same post. “‘I misunderstood it the first time,’ said Rep. Bart Gordon (D-Tennessee), who originally voted for the amendment’ but on the revote voted against the amendment.” These changes (Change that you can believe in?) resulted in the finally revote of 30 in opposition to the amendment and 29 in favor of the amendment. MURDER ACCEPTED!

Bart Gordon [D] (Tennessee—6th District)
2306 Rayburn House Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20515
http://www.gordon.house.gov/ (Website)

Representative Bart Gordon is a 13 term Congressman (26 years in total including 2009 and 2010) who was last elected in 2008 with a 74% vote. He is an attorney and his religion is listed as Methodist. Do you really believe that he just misunderstood the vote? If so, maybe he has been in the Congress too long! More likely there was major arm twisting and promises made to get the two extra votes needed to prevent the amendment. What Some Congressmen won’t do to keep MURDERING the unborn!

The argument will be heard that nothing in the bill specifically allows the MURDER of unborn babies. This is true. It is also TRUE that, if it is not intended to occur, then there is no reason to VOTE AGAINST the Pitts Amendment. The vote against the Pitts Amendment is an admission that the Democrats fully expect the MURDER of unborn babies to be allowed after the passage of the bill. After all, major supporters and campaign workers for Democrats ARE people and organizations that promote, benefit from, and profit from the MURDER of unborn babies. Rest assured, if the Pitts Amendment or something similar is not added to the bill, the MURDER of unborn babies WILL be ALLOWED! It is pay back to their MURDERING supporters!

Barack Hussein Obama supports the MURDER of unborn babies. The Democratic Party, in general, supports the MURDER of unborn babies. And an out-of-control Supreme Court has immorally “legalized” the MURDER of unborn babies. If the bill is passed, MURDER WILL happen if NOT SPECIFICALLY PREVENTED!!!

The following is from http://www.republicans.energycommerce.house.gov/:

“An amendment offered by Rep. Joe Pitts, R-PA., would prohibit the Federal government from mandating that any health insurance plan provide coverage for abortion (except in cases involving a danger to the mother’s life, rape, or incest). For the text of this amendment, click here. (This list provides not only the amendment which I posted above but also the first vote. It is in PDF format—my addition.)

This amendment passed by a vote of 31 to 27.”

“Chairman Waxman, D-CA., later called for a revote on the Pitts Amendment, voting it down by a vote of 30 to 29. For a detailed vote tally, click here.” (This is also in PDF format—my addition.)

Supplemental Appropriations.
The Fiscal 2009 Supplemental Appropriations bill (H.R. 2346) would provide an additional $96.7
billion in “emergency” funding for the current fiscal year over and above the regular
appropriations. Included in the funds for H.R. 2346 is $84.5 billion for the ongoing operations in
Afghanistan and Iraq, $10 billion for foreign aid programs, and $2 billion for flu pandemic
preparation. The House passed H.R. 2346 on May 14, 2009, by a vote of 368-60 (Roll Call 265).
The spending is over and above what the federal government had already budgeted, the United
States never declared war against Iraq and Afghanistan, and some of the spending (e.g., foreign
aid) is unconstitutional.
Marsha Blackburn voted FOR this bill.
