Video gambling—Morton Board of Trustees

I received another comment which I do plan to respond to eventually. However, after tonight’s post I plan to do a couple more posts on “global warming” and then, if the Senate proceeds as it hopes to, some posts on nationalized healthcare. Although, of course, all is subject to change depending on what is occurring.

Last night—Monday, December 07, 2009—video gambling was on the Morton Board of Trustees’ agenda for discussion purposes. I thought the Trustee who had put video gambling on the agenda did an excellent job of presenting the material. After some discussion by most of the Board members, the Board advised the Board’s attorney to draw up an ordinance for consideration before the full Board. The process for voting to ban video gambling has been put into motion by the Village Board and they are to be congratulated.

“Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Things that cause people to sin are bound to come, but woe to that person through whom they come. It would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around his neck than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin. So watch yourselves. Luke 17: 1-3a (NIV)

“Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” Proverbs 14: 34 (NIV)

“Test everything. Hold on to the good. Avoid every kind of evil.” I Thessalonians 5: 21-22 (NIV)

“Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins.” James 4: 17 (NIV)
