As far as I can tell, there are three Republicans running in the California primary seeking the opportunity to run against Senator Barbara Boxer who is up for reelection in 2010. As I’ve said many times, I’m an issues oriented voter. From the websites of the three Republican candidates, here are the issues as presented by each of the three candidates’ own website. For Tom Campbell, issues two through seven were suppose to provide a link for more information but I could not transfer the link while putting the material into my format. All websites may be reached by googling the name of the candidate, Senate, and California. All information is as provided on the respective websites except for putting the material into my format. The three candidates on the issues:

Carly Fiorina:

“Carly on the issues:

‘I am an optimist and believe that people will make the right choices about their lives and their leaders if they know the issues and are equipped with the facts. So let’s talk about the issues…’

1) Creating Jobs

‘Small businesses and entrepreneurs are the economic engines that will lead us through these difficult times.’

2) Restoring Fiscal Accountability

‘When we know where our money is being spent, it’ll be a whole lot easier to get people focused on saving money.’

3) California’s Water Crisis

‘Bringing relief to California farmers in the Central Valley is one of my highest priorities.’

Learn More

4) Focusing Health Care

‘Health care reform should be focused on keeping decisions about care between doctors and patients.’

Learn More

5) Reducing the Deficit

‘Tax, spend and borrow is not a governing philosophy, it’s a cycle of dependency.’

Learn More

6) Energy and the Environment

‘Our focus must be to find efficiencies in the energy production sector and invest in innovation.’

Learn More

7) Immigration

‘Illegal immigration undermines our security.’

8) Protecting America

‘Government’s first and foremost priority is to protect its citizens. That means defending our nation from threats of all kinds, both domestic and foreign.’

Tom Campbell:

“The federal government is spending too much, recklessly too much. The size of the deficit has tripled in one year. The national debt now totals $40,000 for every man, woman, and child in our county. I have a proven record of curbing federal spending. Senator Barbara Boxer has one of the worst records as a big spender in Washington. We need to replace big spenders with frugal ones; I was rated the single most frugal member of the 102nd and 106th Congress. My entire career has focused on economic issues and fiscal responsibility. That has now become the issue of our time. To prevent runaway inflation, which will erode our retirements, and huge debts owed to China and other foreign countries, which our children would have to pay off, we have to stop the system of spending more than we have. I will. She won’t.—Tom Campbell

1) The Budget Plan

The White House has just announced the new Fiscal Year 2011, with a projected deficit of 1.27 trillion dollars. That size of deficit is unconscionable. I call for an alternative approach. We can stop the debt from growing by lowering the federal budget deficit to zero. We’ve done it before. As President Reagan said in a related context, ‘If not us, who? If not now, when?’

2) Tom Campbell vs. Barbara Boxer on Spending

For two years, Congressman Tom Campbell voted for the least net spending by any member of the House. In contrast, for the year 1994 only one Senator received a worse spending score than Barbara Boxer.

3) The Economy

In the last year and a half, the federal reserve has printed more money than at any comparable time period in our entire history. See the consequences of this inflationary spending.

4) Health Care

First, do no harm. Don’t destroy the system of private health care and health insurance in our country. Don’t create a government monopoly.

5) Immigration

Illegal immigration is a grave problem for our state. It costs us a fortune, and it facilitates smuggling illegal substances, such as drugs and guns, into our state and country.

6) Water

It is imperative for all aspects of California’s growth: agricultural, industrial, commercial, and the healthy rearing of our children. However, California’s water supplies are threatened by our natural drought cycles and increased development in neighboring states.

7) National Security

Tom will not shrink to authorize the President to use force when America’s interests are directly at stake. And he will not hide behind Presidential unilateral power when it is the duty of the Congress: House and Senate, to vote yes or no on going to war.

8) Environment

Let us begin with the question of global warming. Recent evidence has seriously undermined the UN IPCC conclusions. There has been fraudulent data, attempts at intimidation, and outright misrepresentation. Decisions of this magnitude should be based on solid scientific fact. It appears that, at least in part, the UN IPCC’s conclusions were not.”

Chuck DeVore:

9) Bill of Rights: Chuck has a proven voting record of fighting for our Constitutional rights. Below, Chuck shares his thoughts on the 1st and 2nd Amendments.Read more...

The following is from the family values (the MURDER OF unborn babies) link which is my most important issue:

“Chuck DeVore has a solid record on sustaining traditional values

Regarding family values, the first rule of government should be to ‘do no harm.’ Unfortunately, liberal activist lawmakers, such as Barbara Boxer, as well as liberal judges, are constantly trying to remake society in their vision by using the power of government. If elected U.S. Senator I know my biggest impact on values will be in the votes I make to confirm federal judges. In a prospective judge, I’ll look for those who understand that the role of government is to secure our ‘unalienable’ rights as set forth in the preamble of the Declaration of Independence and that the Judicial Branch’s role is not to legislate from the bench.

I’m proud to have been one of 18 lawmakers who received a perfect pro-family score from the Capitol Resource Family Impact for voting in 2007-08. Capitol Resource Family Impact runs California’s only pro-family state lawmaker ranking. The full score card may be viewed here.”
