For the last couple of days, I heard about this website on both Rush and Hannity. I checked it out yesterday and decided to post it today since it coincides with what I have been posting on the federal budget. The petition:

Incredibly, Washington is spending $2.6 million training Chinese prostitutes to drink more responsibly on the job. This is the kind of wasteful spending that President Obama and Congress have stubbornly refused to cut. Instead, they planned to raise taxes on families and entrepreneurs by trillions of dollars! Only action by citizens like you will break the Washington liberals of this kind of frivolous splurging.
2) Each day, how many U.S. Postal Service workers are given specific orders to do . . . nothing at all? (Choose one.)
( ) 400 workers—every day!
( ) Actually it’s worse: 625 of them.
( ) 1,125 workers per day
Because of overstaffing, the U.S. Postal Service selects an average of 1,125 employees daily to sit in empty ‘standby rooms.’ They are not allowed to work, read, play cards, watch television, or do anything. The annual cost is $50 million! This is just one of many dirty spending secrets . . . yet liberal politicians say they can’t find much to cut from the federal budget.
3) How much money does Washington spend annually maintaining unused or vacant federal properties? (Choose one.)
( ) $100 Million. Of your money. Every year.
( ) Guess again, it’s $200 Million . . . for land that sits totally idle.
( ) $25 Billion—yes, Billion.
It’s the answer with the “B”—$25 BILLION every year and growing. These are not national parks, but property sitting idle with no immediate positive benefit to the public.
Yet we are pouring $25 billion into maintaining them through federal employees and contractors. Despite such largesse, politicians keep telling us they can’t find enough waste to justify spending cuts and want to raise your taxes instead.
4) TRUE or FALSE: A government study found that one-fifth of all federal programs—costing $123 billion per year—do absolutely no good for the people they serve.

It’s true! Government auditors spent five years—between 2004–2009—examining all federal programs and found that 22 percent of them—costing taxpayers a total of $123 billion annually—fail to show any positive impact on the populations they serve. Things have hardly improved since then! It’s another case of Washington taxing you not because it needs so much money . . . but so Washington liberals can expand their power and privilege.
5) The 2009 federal ‘stimulus’ plan, which cost $787 billion and failed to stimulate the economy, has spent your money on projects including (choose one):

( ) Electric golf carts
( ) A university study of how much alcohol college freshmen women require before agreeing to sex

It’s all of the above—and much more. The stimulus plan has mainly stimulated the size and reach of Washington, not the American economy. But the stimulus’s failure has led many Washington liberals to call for—wait for it—additional stimulus! And of course, they can’t seem to find many programs to cut, so to pay for the added stimulus, they are calling for still more taxes.
The Bad News
The next dirty spending secret is that many Washington liberals are determined to keep spending more, raising the federal debt (already more than $14 trillion and nearly 100% of our Gross Domestic Product), and increasing taxes.
The Good News
They can be stopped. The 2010 election showed that Americans are aware of the challenges we face. Polls show that voters are disgusted by all the spending. We have a real opportunity to make dramatic cuts in spending over the next few years and save the American Dream from national bankruptcy. Outrages like the ones you’ve just read can become a thing of the past.

You are serving at a historic time, when out-of-control federal spending and soaring national debt threaten to destroy the American Dream for future generations. On your watch, we can either continue on this path, or change course and save our country’s future.
Therefore, I stand with The Heritage Foundation and countless fellow Americans to insist that you take dramatic and immediate action to:
1) Stop wasteful spending. This waste is not hard to find. Indeed, federal auditors have found that 22 percent of federal spending does no good.
2) Reform federal entitlement programs. Without such reform, the size and cost of government will sink the prosperity of future generations and threaten the welfare of Americans now living. Workable plans have been presented for such reforms, including ‘Saving the American Dream’—the Heritage plan to fix the debt, cut spending, and restore prosperity. I urge you to reform entitlements promptly.
3) Reform taxes. History shows that trying to balance budgets by raising taxes depresses economic growth and does nothing to address the real cause of debt: runaway spending.
Today’s tax code actually penalizes savings and investment and slows growth. On the other hand, fixing our current tax code will stimulate economic growth. To solve our debt crisis, we need to reform both taxes and spending.
In the midst of another nation-threatening emergency, President Abraham Lincoln wrote, ‘We cannot escape history. We of this Congress and this administration will be remembered in spite of ourselves . . . We shall nobly save, or meanly lose, the last best hope of earth.’ Although today’s crisis is different, the stakes are still high. The economic future upon which our system of free government rests is in serious jeopardy. Will free government and economic opportunity for all Americans continue for future generations?
The answer will largely rest with this Congress. Please take the courageous, principled steps that The Heritage Foundation and others have outlined for you. The citizens of this nation will be watching as you make your decisions.

As I’ve said before, our spending problems are a symptom of our deep moral decay rather than the cause. Still, it is important to STOP the spending. Thus, the continued push to awaken Congress. The insanity can be stopped if the American people repent and return to GOD’S holy principles. If not, it doesn’t really matter how much we spend. We will doom ourselves one way or another. GOD is the only long term answer to our present dilemma.
