Ahead of next Tuesday’s special election in California’s 36th District, both sides are scrambling in the race to replace former Representative Jane Harman, D-California, in what wasn’t even supposed to be a close contest. On Thursday, Democrat Janice Hahn and Republican Craig Huey met for their first—and only—debate. Republicans are pointing to a local TV report that refocuses on Hahn’s relationship with a controversial gang intervention program as a development they believe could upend the race in the final days. Democrats, meanwhile, say another outside ad proves Huey’s campaign is trying to suppress women voters. this week pushing back at Hahn’s ads on Huey’s anti-abortion positions. (i.e. PRO-LIFE position!!! A vote for Hahn is a vote to continue MURDERING unborn babies. AND the Hahn camp is PROUD of that position???—my addition)
‘Is that all she has? Hahn is simply reaching for an issue that divides us. Haven’t we had enough of this from the political class,’ a female narrator says in the ad. ‘Let’s send a message to Janice Hahn and the political establishment that we aren’t falling for their divisive tricks any more.’”
“—The news report at the center of the first controversial web video is getting new legs, with local affiliate FOX 11 doing a nearly 9-minute follow up to their initial report three years ago that looked into Hahn’s work from her time on the Los Angeles City Council with a gang intervention program that compensated former gang members who were convicted rapists and drug dealers. The Democrat’s attorneys had sent the station a cease and desist letter to stop the station from doing any follow-up stories, but they persisted.
The National Republican Congressional Committee is also up with a web site highlighting the stories—HahnGotMeOut.com.

NRCC communications director Paul Lindsay said ‘these new allegations prove that Janice Hahn’s disturbing ties to gang members threaten what once was considered a guaranteed victory for Democrats in a deep-blue district.’

This seat is in the heart of Democrat territory and has been held by a Democrat for decades, but with only a few days to go, Republican Craig Huey is ready to pull off a stunning victory! He has already defeated a heavily favored Democrat in California’s open primary system, and now he is on the verge of pulling off the impossible.
I was forwarded an e-mail from a conservative activist who received an e-mail from Barack Obama’s ‘Organizing for America’ (I also receive e-mails from the Obama camp. I imagine they received by e-mail address from my senior Senate Dick Durbin. They obviously do little vetting! Do they believe everyone who contacts a Democrat is a Democrat?—my addition) asking her to help turn out Democrats in this race. This can only mean one thing: they are scared! Democrats have set their sights on taking back the House of Representatives in 2012, and if they lose a seat in the darkest recesses of Democrat politics then they know they are in real trouble! (Just as our complacency in an earlier special election in New York led to a Democratic victory in a nominally Republican District. Special elections are often win because of Turn out. We need to get conservatives and sensible voters who are sick and tired of Democratic LIES to the polls!—my addition)
