The dependably liberal Ninth Congressional District that voted for the likes of Weiner, as well as leftists Geraldine Ferraro and Charles Schumer, is showing surprising support for the conservative candidate, Republican Bob Turner, making this the closest Congressional race for that district in recent history.
Businessman Bob Turner, an army vet who fought for his country and who doesn’t believe your tax dollars should support the welfare of illegal immigrants stealing our jobs, is a mere six points behind leftist favorite David Weprin according to the latest Siena College poll.
The special election is less than a month away—on September 13th.
That means we have less than ONE MONTH to turn those few points in our direction. (And get out the vote which is very significant in a special election—my addition.)
We can’t let this opportunity to tip the balance of power back in our favor slip through our fingers.

Jerry Buell, a highly respected Florida public school teacher, voiced his opposition to ‘same-sex marriage’ on his personal Facebook account. Now, the 22-year veteran teacher is fighting for his right to teach—and Liberty Counsel has come to his defense! Read the chilling details of this travesty below—Mat.
When Jerry Buell, last year’s ‘Teacher of the Year’ at Mount Dora High School in Florida, saw that New York had legalized ‘same-sex marriage,’ he did what many people did. He expressed his disapproval on the Facebook social media network—on his personal time, his personal computer, and on his personal page. (One person who takes “offense” can destroy a person’s career for expressing his personal opinion on a matter? What has happened to the United States of America?—my addition)
Buell commented that homosexuality is wrong and that seeing two ‘grooms’ kissing on a news story revolted him. A former student from his school saw his post, took offense, and ‘reported’ him to school system officials. Now, Jerry Buell is fighting for reinstatement!
Citing an ethics code violation pending an investigation, the Lake County School District responded by taking away his teaching privileges and reassigning him to administrative duties.
Liberty Counsel quickly moved to defend Jerry Buell’s rights!
Liberty Counsel is now representing Mr. Buell and demanding that he be immediately reinstated with an apology for violating his First Amendment rights. The school district’s response to Buell’s comments is unconstitutional, violating his right to free speech.
Harry Mihet, Senior Litigation Counsel for Liberty Counsel, is spearheading Jerry Buell’s defense.
Here’s what our organization said in a widely-distributed news release:
‘Public school teachers are not constitutional orphans. They, like all Americans, enjoy the freedom to engage in discourse about matters of public concern. Mr. Buell is being investigated and punished for communicating his mainstream objection to homosexual marriage, an objection shared by a large majority of his fellow Floridians who have outlawed homosexual marriage through a constitutional amendment.
