Obama orders EPA to halt its job-killing smog rule

CFACT supporters know that EPA has been on an ideological tear, proposing job-killing rule after rule without regard to economic or environmental realities. EPA has gone lawless, all too often exceeding the authority granted to it by Congress.
CFACT has led the way and joined with elected officials and citizens from coast to coast to cry out, ‘STOP! Enough! This is not what we hired you to do!’
We asked you to sign and circulate CFACT’s petition to reform EPA and so many did.
We provided the hard facts policy makers need to realize how thinly grounded EPA’s rationales for its new rules have been.
Together we raised our voices, spoke truth to power, and miracle of miracles—we were heard.
Today, Obama cried uncle.
Obama ordered EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson to halt EPA’s new smog rule.
This rule would have cost business anywhere from $19-90 billion at the very time our economy is struggling the hardest. It would have provided no meaningful benefit to our environment.
Savor this victory. You’ve earned it!
Do you remember the movie Shawshank Redemption? Every week our hero wrote the government requesting funds for a library. He didn’t quit when they sent him a check. He wrote two letters a week.
The harsh reality is that this smog rule is only one of a host of bad new rules Obama and the EPA plan to burden America with. This is absolutely no time to lower our guard. We must do more. We will.
Help us redouble our efforts and take on the rest of Obama’s and EPA’s radical new rules.

Can we save the EPA before it's too late?
Americans need a watchdog for our environment. Sadly under the Obama administration, the EPA has become the favorite tool of politicians and partisan insiders seeking to control our economy and our daily lives—with little concern for genuine environmentalism.
The global warming scare is the most dangerous propaganda campaign we have seen in decades.
Despite the absence of substantial real world evidence that productive human activity is warming the globe, the EPA has taken a radical step and classified carbon dioxide as a pollutant. Because every business in the United States emits carbon dioxide in some form, every business can now be regulated by the EPA. Even the air we exhale, carbon dioxide, has been determined to be a pollutant by the EPA.
The EPA was founded to protect our environment and humanity from industrial abuse, but is now in the hands of extremists intent on using its powers to regulate our lives.
For almost 30 years, we’ve watched the EPA move away from protecting Americans from rivers of fire from industrial pollution or true cancer-causing particulates in our water. Today, the EPA seeks to stretch its legislative mandates to control everything we do.
The underhanded design of the bureaucrats to take over the American economy should alarm us all.
In fact, Americans were warned about their designs when Obama told us during his presidential campaign that we ‘can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say okay. That’s not leadership. That’s not going to happen.’
To force Americans to hobble their lifestyles in the name of global warming, Obama must stop America in its tracks and that’s what he plans to do. The Obama administration plans to raise the cost of all goods, services and fuels to American consumers through increased taxes on energy and basic goods that will fund a massive increase in the size and cost of government. In fact, Obama promised economic hardship when he said, ‘under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.’
The EPA’s goals under the Obama administration are clear and they are dangerous. But we can fight this and return the EPA to its roots if we speak out.
Scientists around the world are finally finding the courage to speak out, dissent and debunk radical claims about man-made global warming.
This has never been about protecting the environment. This is a fight for the control of our economy and ultimately our freedom.
