The “War on Women” and the “War on Religion” Who Is Waging War on Whom?

Update: Heard on the 7PM ABC radio news that according to a just released poll about 50% of those polled disapprove of how President Obama is handling the shut down. About 60% disapprove of Democrats handling and about 70% of the Republicans handling. Of course, they never give the questions asked so it is impossible to knew if the questions were slanted. Plus, I don’t trust anything that comes from the mainstream media when it come to polls or anything else for that matter.

That said, I’ve been hearing about the poll all day. The 7PM report was the first time they also said that “even conservative Republicans disapproved of the Republicans handling of it by a 59% margin.” And I immediately said, of course! And that is why the Republican figure is higher than the other two. As a conservative Republican, I do not like President Obama’s handling of it and of the Democrats handling of it. I also do not like the Republicans handling of it but for a very different reason. I don’t think they should have compromised down from defunding to delaying. Now, I’ll take delaying over funding. But, we should have stayed with defunding throughout. And that friends is why the Republican number is so high. Democrats don’t like the Republican position because they want funding. And conservative Republicans don’t like the Republican position because we want DEFUNDING! That said, I urge ALL Republicans to stand firm on delaying! Those who do not will be primaried!!! Competition is good for the economy and competition is good for the Republican Party!!! Competition keeps Congressmen committed to we the people!!!

“The ‘War on Women’ is a Civil War Led by Abortion Activists
by Penny Nance | Washington, DC | LifeNews.com | 10/11/13

Last week, Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood, cried wolf once more regarding a ‘war on women’ because House Republicans voted on Saturday to delay Obamacare for a year. She argues that ‘a narrow group of Republican leaders in the House are pushing to shut down the entire federal government over women’s access to birth control, cancer screenings and other basic health care (Which is nonsense on the face of it! They lie so much and so often, I sometimes think they actually believe the lies they continually spout!my addition).’

If the only issues on the table were non-controversial services like cancer screenings and immunizations, then there would be no debate, but that’s not the reality.

No, this issue is far more complicated. Seventy-two percent of Americans oppose funding abortions through any federally run health plan (My use of redmy addition). Men oppose taxpayer-funded abortions by a 73-21 percent margin, while women also oppose it by 70-25 percent. Americans may want better health care, but not at the expense of promoting abortion (And they are NOT going to get better healthcare through ANY government operated and controlled program! Want better healthcare? Go back to the free market system which we have been abandoning since the early 1960s! And now the same people who have been destroying the best healthcare system in the world for the last fifty years are claiming they want to save it by even MORE government interference!my addition). Planned Parenthood’s radical dream of any number of ‘free’ abortions for any reason at any point in a pregnancy is an affront to the majority of America’s women (And to men!my addition), and particularly to women of faith.

In fact, Monday, the same day Richardss piece ran, marked the 37th anniversary of the Hyde Amendment, which wrote into law that federal dollars could not be used to subsidize most abortions. This legislation, which only applies to certain pots of money, not Obamacare, passes every year with bipartisan backing. There is good reason for that. It enjoys broad support from Americans.

The issue of contraceptives in American life is also complicated. My group, Concerned Women for America, has no position on the issue of contraceptives. Our members hold a variety of views on the subject. However, many Catholic women follow the church’s teaching on the use of contraceptives. Evangelicals overwhelmingly oppose abortion and support First Amendment rights to religious freedom. Regardless of those views, taxpayers already spend $278.3 million per year providing access through Title X, and that does not include the funding for family planning (Family planning is another grossly misused and abused term by the Left!my addition) under Medicaid.

The free market has stepped up as well. Wal-Mart stores nationwide sell birth control for as low as $9 a month.

However, Obamacare upped the ante by forcing all health-care plans to include both birth control and even more controversial drugs such as Ella and Plan B as part of their ‘essential services.’

And contraceptives are not the only issue. The exchanges that opened this week will force millions of Americans to unknowingly subsidize elective abortion coverage (The solution? Defund Obamacare! Do not use the exchanges! Do not comply with Obamacare!my addition). Many of these plans will charge enrollees an ‘abortion surcharge,’ a minimum of $1 per month, which pays into an abortion slush fund (which is hidden in the fine print and not advertised. Do you think Obamasnavigators,” which include Planned MURDERHOOD in some cases, will tell you?my addition) .

The regulations also contain a ‘secrecy clause’ to conceal the existence of the ‘abortion surcharge’ until the moment of enrollment (Now why would the Obama Administration do that?my addition). This surcharge is only disclosed in the fine print, without itemization in the monthly premium, and is never disclosed again.

Since the introduction of what came to be called the ‘contraception mandate,’ religious groups and especially Christian groups have been fighting it on the grounds that it violates religious liberties (Which it clearly does! I WILL NOT BE FORCED TO FINANCE THE MURDER OF UNBORN BABIES!my addition).

Being forced to offer or buy a plan that pays for someone’s contraception, sterilization or abortion is not only offensive, but is also a direct violation to the faith principles of Christians, and they, therefore, must object to Obamacare’s provisions. Unfortunately, the Obama administration ignored their concerns and issued the final rule in July 2013 (And we should ignore their law!my addition).

Richards dismisses these women as merely expressing a ‘personal ‘moral’ objection.’ Are they less entitled to their rights than those of abortion advocates (Why is the federal government requiring any such thing in the first place? Where is the constitutional authority to have control of healthcare?my addition)? Why is it that only the beliefs of liberal women count (Because like all the Left, they are intolerant of the beliefs of those with whom they disagree?my addition) It’s our money (Not according to this government!my addition). Shouldn’t Planned Parenthood simply raise the money needed to support its views and services the old-fashioned way rather than through government bullying (That would be a new experience!my addition)?

Stories to support this reasoning abound. One group of nuns, Little Sisters of the Poor, is suing the government because Obamacare’s regulations force them to break the vows they have taken. These nuns run more than 30 facilities in the United States ‘to offer the neediest elderly of every race and religion a home where they will be welcomed as Christ, cared for as family and accompanied with dignity until God calls them to himself (What are religious vows when you can MURDER more children?my addition).’

It would be laughable if it weren’t so offensive that the Obama administration thinks that a group of impoverished nuns should be forced to pay for contraceptives for the likes of Sandra Fluke. The left, however, doesn’t see this. And the White House is determined to force women of faith to violate their consciences in order to curry favor with another group of women (Follow the money!my addition).

The truth is that much of this battle is more complicated than Richards chooses to admit. We, as women of faith, are standing our ground against another group of women who seek to force us to subsidize choices we find immoral. Turns out the ‘war on women’ is actually a civil war.

Petition to the President concerning the World War II Memorial

From: http://aclj.org/american-heritage/obama-blocks-wwii-heroes-from-memorial

The Obama Administration is spending money to block access to the World War II Memorial, using veterans as pawns as he works to save the abortion-pill mandate.

The World War II Memorial is open-air and open 24 hours a day, but the Obama Administration brought in forklifts, barricades, and security to shut it down.

President Obama would rather block World War II vets from their memorial than delay his individual mandate for even one year or give up on his abortion-pill mandate.

The ACLJ has sent a team to the Memorial site, and we’re fighting back. Sign our petition:

Mr. President, Honor Our Veterans. Open Our Nation’s War Memorials.

To President Obama:

Don’t play partisan politics with American heroes. Honor the men and women who sacrificed for our freedom. Apologize to our veterans, and stop spending money to close American war memorials.
