Congress—lame duck session ends and then what?

Running the clock out

What a difference a week will make. A week from today, we will be a week from Christmas. But, we will get a Christmas present early. The lame duck congress will end and hopefully go home empty handed. (Hopefully, it will end on the 17th. Until the gavel falls for the last time this year, I don’t trust the Congressional leadership. Keep vigilant!—my addition)

The stage will then be set for the 112th congress, with (allegedly conservative) Republicans controlling the House and the Senate very closely divided.

Thursday evening, as I was watching my beloved Tennessee Titans drop their sixth game in a row, it occurred to me, what we have been through for the last two years has been much like a football game.

Conservatives have been making repeated goal line stands against the left. At least once, they have gotten the ball into the end zone (Obamacare) [Although they did so illegally!—my addition]. A few times they have had to settle for field goals and quite a few times, we have stopped them.

This week, we have to make our final goal line stands. They will try to shove what they can of their agenda through, including a budget bill that will fund Obamacare.

This week, time is on our side. Like the football team trying to stop a last minute drive, all we have to do is slow them down until time runs out. Time should run out this Friday. (This is NOT the time to go into a “prevent” defense! As I am fond of saying, the only thing a “prevent” defense will prevent is you [the team using the prevent defense] winning the game! We need to keep up the pressure!—my addition)

After we celebrate the end of this lame duck Congress, we should take time to remember a few things. If we have learned anything over the last two years, we should have learned, elections matter. This is a lesson we need to remind our friends and our neighbors. If we had a real conservative running in 2008, Obama would not be President. Instead, the 2008 election was a battle between two liberals. The American people really did not have a choice.

Another lesson we need to take from this is the need to prepare and be involved in the political system. The people who will win elections in 2012 are running right now. We need to find good candidates and get them into the game now. We also need to be working to take over political organizations, in particular the taking over of the Republican Party. We need to get a good solid conservative, like Saul Anuzis in as the Chairman of the RNC (Republican National Committee—my addition) and at the state and local level we need to start moving the RINOs out and put good, solid conservatives in their place. The changes will not take place over night and we will not win all of them. But we need to keep pushing.

As we look for leaders for the future, we need to find leaders with one commitment. We need leaders committed to the destruction of liberalism. When Ronald Reagan went into the White House, he was committed to destroying Soviet Communism. Before Reagan, in some areas, it was considered fashionable to be a ‘communist.’ After Reagan, only the mentally ill would call themselves communists. We need leaders who are committed to stopping and destroying the progressive agenda. After the 2012 elections, we must make certain liberals are never in a position of power again.”

Lessons learned:

1) Elections matter.

2) As a corollary to #1, who is nominated matters. Often, the primary election is of greater significance than the general election. Poor candidates selected in the primary lead to poor elected officials even when your side wins the general election. Case in point, Mark Kirk as the newly elected Senator from Illinois!—my addition

3) Be prepared (The Boy Scout motto—my addition) and be involved in the political system (and not just at election time—my addition).

4) Select leaders committed to the destruction of liberalism. (I would go far beyond this. We need leaders at all levels of government who are passionate to preserve and follow the Constitution as written unless amended by the process defined in the Constitution. And even more important, passionate for the moral values established by GOD and recognized [slavery being a notable exception] by the Founding Fathers. I’ve said all along, that unless we, as a nation, return to GOD’S values, we will ultimately lose and so will the nation. Liberalism is not the evil. It is a symptom of the evil. The evil is disobedience and rebellion against GOD, the CREATOR of all things!!!—my addition)

“2010 was the first election cycle for the Tea Party movement. It will not be our last. Pass this bill (The tax bill compromise—my addition.) and we are going to start looking for primary challengers against those who were dumb enough to vote for this bill. Do as we the people want, or we the people will replace you.”

“The conservative majority in this country does not want amnesty.

The DREAM act is amnesty. It is a budget buster. It will allow illegals who have committed crimes to remain in this country.

Unfortunately, the GOP has not learned its lesson. We know there are some RINOs still there, but we had hoped the party itself would have understood what happened in November and would not be this stupid.

It looks like we will be disappointed again.

Most people say the Tea Party came about because of Obama. Obama certainly helped kick it to life, but the real cause behind the creation of the Tea Party movement is that the Republicans abandoned conservative, constitutional beliefs. The Republicans, who are supposed to be the conservative party, went RINO and they lost the support of the majority of Americans. That is why they became a small minority party. America did not suddenly fall in love with the GOP last month. Americans wanted to vote the socialists out of power and the Republicans were the only real option.

Now, we have a message for the GOP. You are not going to do this to America.

To paraphrase Bill Cosby, we brought you into office and we can, and will, take you out.

If you want to push items we do not want, like a DREAM act, we will have candidates to run against you in the primaries and if need be, in the general elections. If you do not believe the Tea Party is serious, ask Robert Bennett, while he is cleaning out his office.

Ask Mike Castle while he is cleaning out his. Ask Charlie Crist, who is not moving into a DC office.

Stupidity, and primary challengers, are avoid able. Especially if you do the right thing."

My post script on this post:

I think he is overreacting at this point in time. In a section of the post which I did not include, A RINO Republican said the Party would bring back a modified DREAM Act next session. I don’t think that will happen and I’m not willing to agree that MOST Republicans do NOT understand the mood of the electorate or of this conservative movement. I think they do. I pray they do. If they don’t, we need to remove them from office!!!

However, I do agree that we need to keep watch and remove those Republican RINO’s who still don’t get it as well as continuing to remove libertine Democrats. We have only just begun. This is NOT finished by a long shot. We are still in the first quarter. Gear-up for the long haul. We’re in a marathon race not a sprint!!!
