I finally started reading through the “new and improved” healthcare bill presented to the House—H.R. 3962. No, I won’t even attempt to read the whole thing. I went searching for specific topics that I had heard were within the bill.
1) On yesterday’s post, I wrote “the new bill—H.R. 3962—has 3,495 instances of ‘shall’ used in the 1990 page bill!” However, there is one prominent “may” written into the 1990 page bill. That prominent “may” is found on page 225.
Page 225
“Title III”
“Sec. 330. Enrollment in Public Health Insurance Option by Members of Congress
Not withstanding any other provision of this Act, Members of Congress may enroll in the public health insurance option.”
Translation: Although the bill lists several thousand “shalls,” this important “may” applies not to all the people but only to members of Congress—the very people who wrote and will approve the bill. How many members of Congress do you think will actually join the public health insurance option?
2) The “new, improved” bill has a mandatory requirement that all must have health insurance or pay a tax for daring not to have said insurance.
Page 296
“Title V”
“Subtitle A—Provisions Relating to Health Care Reform
Part 1—Shared Responsibility
Subpart A—Individual Responsibility”
“Sec. 501. Tax on Individuals Without Acceptable Health Care Coverage.”
Translation: Although the Democrats are advocates of having “choice” in some areas such as having a “choice” to MURDER an unborn baby, citizens have no choice when it comes to health insurance. This is the first time in American history, that I know of, where the federal government is requiring all people to purchase a specific product. The government didn’t even require people to purchase “war bonds” during World War II although we were in a struggle for our very existence. They were encouraged to do so but NOT required. Is this even remotely Constitutional under our Constitution as written—not as interpreted by libertine judges and Justices who believe they are the Constitution.
One thing is certainly different though. This is one of the few times you will ever hear Democrats talking about personal responsibility—usually it’s newly conceived “rights” with absolutely no attached responsibilities. When did health insurance become such an essential that we no longer have a choice on whether or not to carry it?
And yes. You are right. I don’t have health insurance. And yes. You are right again. I won’t be purchasing health insurance should this bill become law and require all to purchase health insurance. And yes. You’re right again. I won’t be paying any tax for not purchasing health insurance I don’t want.
I wonder if I’ll still be able to write this blog while in jail. Will I be required to have health insurance in jail or will the government provide medical care for free as they do now? Won’t that be poetic justice!
3) A tax on basically all medical devices including devices that are rented and that are used!
Page 336
“Title V”
“Subtitle B—Other Revenue Provisions”
Page 339
“Sec. 552. Excise tax on Medical Devices.”
“Sec. 4061. Medical Devices.
(a) In General.—there is hereby imposed on the first taxable sale of any medical devise a tax equal to 2.5 percent of the price for which sold.”
Translation: Medical devices will become more expensive. Break a leg; need a wheelchair? It is going to cost more under this bill. Someone has got to pay for all the increased cost involved in such a major expansion. Why not people who use medical devises?
4) Homosexuals will have health insurance coverage for their sin partner(s) even in States that by law do not allow such a provision.
Page 359
“Title V”
“Part 3—Parity in Health Benefits
Sec. 571. Certain Health Related Benefits Applicable to Spouses and Dependents Extended to Eligible Beneficiaries.”
Translation: It doesn’t matter that homosexual behavior is perverted and condemned as sin in the Bible—the WORD of GOD. It doesn’t matter what you believe. You are going to help pay for health insurance for perverted, sinful behavior through government edict—like it or not!
5) Insurance companies have to pay a yearly fee for every single health insurance policy issued and for very single person covered under every single policy.
Page 1158
“Title VIII—Revenue-Related Provisions”
Page 1168
Subchapter B—Insured and Self-Insured Health Plans
Sec. 4375. Health Insurance
(a) Imposition of Fee.—There is herby imposed on each specified health insurance policy for each policy year a fee equal to the fair share per capita amount determined under section 9511(c)(1) multiplied by the average number of lives covered under the policy.
(b) Liability for Fee—The fee imposed by subsection (a) shall be paid by the issuer of the policy.”
Translation: Looks like the middle class is going to pay more after all! This is the Democrats concept of competition! Not only does the government establish their own insurance program—public option—but the government also makes the rules for all private insurance companies. One such rule is that the insurance companies will pay this fee to the government to use to cover some of the cost of all the expansion mandated by the government. Of course, the government won’t pay the fee since it would only be paying it to the GOVERNMENT! Plus, of course, the government can continue its public option without concern for making a profit—NOT so with insurance companies.
Don’t you just get a thrill thinking about government created competition? Of course, this is payback for the insurance companies daring to oppose the nationalization of healthcare. How dare they?
Welcome to the wonderful world of government created nationalized healthcare! Everyone who voted for Barack Hussein Obama deserves it. The rest of us, not so much. In the long run, if this monstrosity becomes law, it is going to cost the young much more than the rest of us. Since the young overwhelmingly supported him, it seems to be another instance of poetic justice!
