From Tea Party Nation

"Candidates you need to know about: Lynne Torgerson, MN-5

There are a lot of liberals who need to be retired this year, but there are few I can think of more deserving than Keith Ellison. Ellison is one of the most radical members of congress. He has a ZERO rating from the American Conservative Union. He is the only Muslim member of congress. He supports the Counsel for American Islamic Relations, HAMAS and has helped congress send millions of tax to terrorists in Gaza.

Lynne Torgerson is a good conservative, opposing the lunacy that Ellison brings to congress.

Lynne Torgerson is someone we really need to see in congress. There is still time to help her. Her website is here.

If you can help her with either contributions or volunteering, do it today! America will be a better place with Ellison out of congress."

"Abortion/Pro Life

My views regarding abortion are consistent with the Catholic Church. Life begins at conception. With all due respect, abortion is simply wrong. However, I do not condemn those who have undergone such a procedure, but rather, I have compassion for them. Women are traumatized by the abortions they have had, I believe, for the rest of their lives. Also, any woman who has suffered a miscarriage is terribly grieved, and knows that she lost her baby, her child. Thus, I simply believe it is wrong and would vote to oppose legislation supporting abortion.

I would also oppose legislation which supports using embryonic stem cells for research or other purposes. It is not appropriate for us to decide to sacrifice one life for another.

1 Man, 1 Woman Marriage

Again, my views here are consistent with the Catholic church. I would be in favor of laws supporting one (1) man one (1) woman marriage. Marriage was actually created by God, and God created it between a man and a woman. Thus, anything else is actually not marriage, even though some would try to call it that.

Right to Bear Arms/Second Amendment

I support the 2nd Amendment. This has already been established by the United States Supreme Court. I am a gun owner myself. I read a book recently, which went over the history of the 2nd Amendment. Interestedly, the 2nd Amendment was promulgated for two reasons. One was for self defense; to protect oneself against others. The other I was surprised by. The other reason was to protect oneself from the government. I found that very interesting.

The book also pointed out that back in the 1600 or 1700s, people were required to own a gun, and, were required to have a certain minimum amount of ammunition. If one didn't have enough ammunition, they were fined. This is the context in which the 2nd Amendment was promulgated. Hence, there is substantial historical support for the right to bear arms.

Immigration

The following expressed by our former President, is a valid position:

‘In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American ... There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile ... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.’—Theodore Roosevelt”

Also running, Joel Demos. His campaign website does not have much information. It says nothing about life, marriage, immigration, or the right to bear arms.
