Congress—the lame duck Fiscal Year 2011 Omnibus Appropriations Bill
Congress is suppose to adjourn today. I don’t expect it. This lame duck Congress still has too much damage it wants to do. So far, for the most part, the Senate Republicans have held together on their pledge not to vote for cloture on other issues until the fiscal year budget is dealt with successfully.
That’s right, just as in Illinois, the 2011 fiscal year budget has not yet been passed in acceptable form. The 2011 fiscal year, however, actually began on October 1, 2010. We have been operating on continuing resolutions because the Democrats, who have large majorities in both Houses of Congress at the present time, did not want to pass a huge deficit budget before the 2010 election.
Harry Reid hopes to force it through during this lame duck session before the Republicans take control of the House of Representatives next year and before the Republicans add six new Senators to the Senate next year. So far, that has not happened.
I heard on the 10 PM news last night that Majority Leader Reid has decided not to try to pass the Omnibus Budget but, instead, settle for another continuing resolution. I am still posting about this budget though for a couple of reasons. First, the material posted below from the Tea Party Nation provides a link so that you may download the document in PDF form. The document is almost 2000 pages long. Also, I see no reason not to continue the “read-in” being organized. We the people should know what is proposed by this budget. Finally, I DON’T TRUST Harry Reid. I fully expect him to try to pass his other pet projects (see the above list at the beginning of this post) after a continuing resolution, if that is his goal, is passed.
We the people MUST keep VIGILANT! We the people MUST keep INVOLVED! We the people MUST keep PRAYING!!! We the people can NOT afford to take any time off until the 111th Congress has adjourned for the last time!

Tea Party Nation, along with our friends at Tea Party Express, Freedom Works and other ‘we the people’ groups are putting on the National Appropriations Bill Read-in. We need your help.
Starting this afternoon (Thursday, the 16th—my addition) at around 6: 00pm, in Washington, we will be reading the Omnibus Appropriations Bill in its entirety. We will be doing this along with the official reading that will be going on in the U.S. Senate.
We want you to do the same thing locally. Call your local Tea Party group and try to get together and start on this. Thanks to Harry Reid, we have very little time. But this is a good event to participate in.
To get involved, first, download the Appropriations bill. You can do it here (It is 1924 pages).

Find a venue. A twenty-four hour fast food restaurant that will let you use their facilities, or a public meeting room or a library or a mall. Any place you can.
Call your friends in your Tea Party group and get them involved.
Call the media. Let them know what is going on. Call your local talk radio station and get them involved. We estimate it will take fifty hours to read the entire bill. You can get started this afternoon (Thursday, the 16th—my addition), and run it through tomorrow and into Saturday.
When you get a reading going, post it in the forum on Tea Party Nation. IF you are looking for a reading, look in the forums.
If you are in the Washington DC area, we will have more information shortly on the reading on Capital Hill and how you can participate.
This bill is the last gasp of the desperate left. We can stop it. Get involved.”
