Based upon past historical data: 3,287+ UNBORN BABY MURDERS have occurred in the last 24 hours in the United States. See my post “BABY HOLOCAUST” posted January 22, 2008.

I will not be continuing my Creationism posts today. I do not plan to get to them until after the general election in November.

I do plan to discuss Iraq before the election. I am sorry for the change in plans. Plans, in reality, often are altered for one reason or another. “The best laid plans … often go astray.” Thank you for your understanding and patience.

How many unborn toddlers were murdered today because of the humanistic, paganish, barbaric decisions of the United States Supreme Court?

Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama, who has so far based his campaign on change, strangely selected for Vice President a man who has served in the United States Senate for 36 years. Such a selection certainly doesn’t seem to reinforce the concept of change.

Perhaps he was selected to counter the charge that Barack Obama does not have the experience necessary to be President of the United States. Since the Constitution does not provide any specific duties for the Vice President except to preside over the Senate and to vote in the case of a tie in a Senate vote, the duties and influence of the Vice President are dependent upon the will of the President. How much influence a Vice Presidential candidate will have in the actual administration can not be known until after the fact. Often, the Vice President has very little influence in the actual process.

Consequently, Vice Presidential candidates are sometimes chosen to balance the ticket. Sometimes, a Vice Presidential candidate is selected because he is important in a particular State that has a number of Electoral College votes and winning that State is important to winning a majority of the Electoral College. That doesn’t seem likely in this case since Senator Biden is from Delaware and Delaware only has three Electoral College votes.

Furthermore, Senator Biden does not provide balance in certain other important areas. Neither Senator Barack Obama nor Senator Joseph Biden has any elected executive experience. Neither Senator Barack Obama nor Senator Joseph Biden has any military experience as far as I can tell. Certainly, the Democrats would be wise not to attack the Republican ticket for lack of military experience as was done in the 2004 election. Finally, Senator Biden is in the same general age category as Senator John McCain. To attack Senator John McCain as being too old for the office is to indirectly attack Barack Obama’s own selection for Vice President. At 65, 72 doesn’t seem that much older. Finally, Senator Biden has sought the Democratic nomination twice previously and has been rejected by the party both times.

It seems that the selection of Senator Joseph Biden will not have any significant influence in the direction of the election. I don’t believe the Republicans will spend much time dealing with Senator Biden except to point out the obvious to refute charges made by the Democrats.

Republican Presidential nominee John McCain, who has often claimed to be a Republican maverick, selected for Vice President a woman—Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska—who is little known and has held elected State office for only two years. However, she also has been identified as a maverick Republican taking on and defeating an incumbent Republican governor in the 2006 primary.

Perhaps the most significant aspect of her selection is that she is an up and coming Republican woman. She is the first Republican woman nominated to be a Vice Presidential candidate. (The only woman to be a Democratic Vice Presidential candidate was Geraldine Ferraro in 1984. Walter Mondale lost that election to Ronald Reagan and received only 13 Electoral College votes—the lowest total since 1936 when there were fewer Electoral College votes—and no woman has been on a major party Presidential ticket since, until this year.) However, she is also only 44-years-old providing an age balance with the 72-year-old John McCain. In fact, the average age for the Republican ticket is now 58 while the average age for the Democratic ticket is 56. Certainly, not a significant difference in ages when combining ages. It is plausible that some might vote for the Republican ticket thinking that if John McCain should die in office, the country would then have its first woman President.

As I said earlier in this post, Vice Presidential candidates are sometimes chosen to balance the ticket. Sometimes, a Vice Presidential candidate is selected because she is important in a particular State that has a number of Electoral College votes and winning that State is important to winning a majority of the Electoral College. That doesn’t seem likely in this case since Governor Palin is from Alaska and Alaska only has three Electoral College votes.

However, Governor Palin does seem to provide balance in other important areas. As already stated, she certainly tends to balance the age difference between Senator McCain and Senator Obama. Although Senator John McCain has no elected executive experience, Governor Palin does—as stated in the previous post, at least six years and probably a total of ten years when including her stint as mayor. Indeed, she is the only candidate of the four who has any elected executive experience. She does not seem to have any military experience as far as I can tell. However, that also seems to be true of both Democratic candidates and, of course, Senator John McCain has significant military experience including being a prisoner of war. To attack Governor Palin as being too inexperienced for the office is to indirectly attack Barack Obama’s own experience since he has no elected executive experience and his legislative experience isn’t that much more than Governor Palin’s executive experience.

Be certain if this, if the Democrats attack Governor Palin it is because they are concerned with her positive impact upon the Republican ticket. If they were not concerned, they would have no reason to attack her. Instead, they would concentrate on attacking Senator John McCain who is, after all, the Presidential candidate.

One last item, I doubt that the Democrats have an instance where Governor Palin declares that Senator John McCain is not ready to be President. The Republicans are already broadcasting such a negative statement made by Senator Biden in relation to Senator Obama. (Did Senator Biden lie then or is he lying now as he now proclaims, since he was selected as the Vice Presidential candidate, that Senator Obama is now miraculously ready to be President? Just wondering.)

Who made the better Vice Presidential selection?
