I received a comment on my Thursday night post. I will comment on the comment with a post hopefully next week. I haven’t yet decided how I want to proceed. I do plan on commenting on the comment. It may take one post, it may take more.

“For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them into gloomy dungeons to be held for judgment; if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others; if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)—if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment. This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the sinful nature and despise authority.” 2 Peter 2: 4-10a (NIV)

GOD is a HOLY GOD. HE alone determines what is SIN and what is not SIN—not science, not genetics, not man’s concepts of morality, not man’s culture, not the media, not misguided religious leaders, not man’s understanding of freedom, not man’s desires, not man’s beliefs, not man’s feelings, not any man-created court system, not man’s interpretation of GOD’S will. GOD alone determines SIN. GOD through HIS Holy Bible defines SIN and identifies it. It seems beyond dispute that the Bible identifies HOMOSEXUAL behavior as SIN.

Ask anyone who professes to be a Christian to give any specific reference in New Testament Scripture that is positive or even neutral toward HOMOSEXUALITY and they can not. They can not because it is not in the Bible—Old or New Testament. Instead they will give Scripture which rightly says we must love one another. They then imply incorrectly that to love is to accept others’ SINS or natural state of being. Paul, in several of the Scriptures quoted, writes about love and the necessity to love one another and then warns against SEXUAL IMMORALITY. Love does not accept SIN! Love does not encourage SIN! Love helps others to repent from SIN and turn to the true living GOD.

Paul admonishes us over and over again to turn from the SINFUL nature, our human self, and to be guided and controlled by the HOLY SPIRIT. Today, some argue we should nourish and encourage the SINFUL nature of man. They are trying to turn the Holy Scriptures upside down. They are also denying the power of the HOLY SPIRIT. They seem to think they know more than GOD. They are wrong!

“I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!” Galatians 1: 6-9 (NIV) Preach a different gospel than the Holy Scriptures without repentance and you are condemned. Live a life of SIN without repentance and you are condemned. These are Scriptural truths.

HOMOSEXUALS and their supporters have been lobbying for the acceptance of HOMOSEXUALITY over a period of years. They have lied. They have mastered the art of “name calling” labeling anyone who disagrees with HOMOSEXUAL behavior as either homophobic bigots or “closet homosexuals.” They have argued that laws against HOMOSEXUALITY are archaic and not relevant to a supposedly enlightened world. Do you suppose they argued the same thing in Sodom and Gomorrah? However, man’s supposed enlightenment will never replace GOD’S Word and HIS truth. GOD’S truth will never be archaic.

HOMOSEXUALS and their supporters have been humanly clever. They have identified an IMMORAL, PERVERTED action as a civil right and many misguided people have accepted that position. They have enlisted the support of a major political party. They have over time changed their emphasis for their cause. They first argued that the government should stay out of their bedroom. People accepted the argument to such an extent that the power hungry United States Supreme Court has ruled that laws against HOMOSEXUALITY are unconstitutional. They then demanded that government and businesses should pay for their bedroom by providing such benefits as family insurance and other programs that accepted their SIN as natural. Some governments and businesses accepted that demand. Today, in a one hundred and eighty degree turn from staying out of their bedroom, they are demanding that the government sanctify their bedroom by allowing marriage between HOMOSEXUALS. So far, that demand has been overwhelmingly rejected by the people but accepted by a couple of state courts—the latest being the California Supreme Court—and some politicians.

What are Christians who believe that HOMOSEXUAL behavior is a SIN to do? Certainly, they should pray fervently. However, JESUS did not stop at prayer. HE took action. HE taught GOD’S Holy Word to the people. The early Christians did not stop at prayer. They taught the Word of GOD boldly even while facing persecution and death. Christians today should not stop at prayer. We too must teach GOD’S Holy Word boldly even if it means being subjected to “name calling,” persecution, and death. If Christians will not declare that HOMOSEXUALITY is a SIN should they expect the rest of the nation to do so?

We have another avenue available that the early Christians did not have. In a democracy we have the opportunity and the responsibility to shape the direction of and the policies of the government. We know that HOMOSEXUAL activists are trying to use all avenues including government and the Courts to advance their IMMORAL agenda. The choice is clear—either Christians help to shape government policy or others will.

Government school books are portraying HOMOSEXUAL unions as an acceptable lifestyle. The United States Supreme Court has already ruled that laws against HOMOSEXUALITY are unconstitutional. Even if every state in the union had a law or Constitutional provision preventing marriage between HOMOSEXUALS, the Supreme Court in one obscene ruling could declare them all to be unconstitutional. By definition, a United States Constitutional Amendment can not be unconstitutional. Who should rule this country—the United States Supreme Court or the people? Who should rule this country—the various State Supreme Courts or the people?

GOD allows man to have free will. GOD allows man to SIN. GOD wants Christians to be active, involved, teaching people of GOD. The choice is ours. If the nation continues to slide into deeper and deeper SIN; will our HOLY, SOVEREIGN GOD allow it to continue in SIN indefinitely? He didn’t for the Jewish nation of the Old Testament.

Time magazine in its December 6, 2004 issue had a one page essay in the back of the issue. In the essay, the author argued that the moral conservatives in the United States won a battle in the 2004 election but that it is inevitable that the push for HOMOSEXUALITY will win. She uses as her proof, the saturation of SIN throughout our society. Of course, she did not refer to it as SIN but the changing cultural values that have permeated our society in the movies, on television, in songs, and in every area of our lives. She knows that we reap what we sow and she likes what is being sowed.

We need to start sowing true Christianity instead of worldliness! The fate of this nation and the people may well be in the hands of Christians. Ultimately, the fate of every nation and its people is in the SOVEREIGN hands of the living GOD.

“If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,’ and again, ‘The Lord will judge his people.’ It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” Hebrews 10: 26-31 (NIV)

“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.” Galatians 6: 7-8 (NIV)

JESUS gives instructions to John to write to seven churches. Two of those seven churches are rebuked by JESUS for allowing teachings that encouraged HIS people “to sin by eating food sacrificed to idols and by committing sexual immorality.” (Both of these SINS are SINS that the apostles, elders, and church at Jerusalem as led by the HOLY SPIRIT required that Gentile Christians not commit. Acts 15: 28-29 [NIV]) “Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols.” JESUS chastises the church in Thyatira for tolerating SIN. JESUS and GOD—HIS FATHER—never tolerate SIN! In both cases those who are involved in these SINS are admonished to repent. They must repent or suffer the dire consequences of their SINFUL behavior. Both churches are further warned, “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” We as Christians must listen to the Word of GOD as given through the HOLY SPIRIT. Hearing, we must obey GOD’S trustworthy and true Word whether or not we like it or agree with it. GOD knows far more than we ever will!

“The rest of mankind that were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk. Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts.” Revelations 9: 20-21 (NIV)

“Their bodies will lie in the street of the great city, which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified.” Revelation 11: 8 (NIV)

“He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!’ Then he said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’

He said to me: ‘It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.’” Revelation 21: 5-8 (NIV)

“‘Behold, I am coming soon! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy in this book.’

I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I had heard and seen them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had been showing them to me. But he said to me, ‘Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers the prophets and of all who keep the words of this book. Worship God!’

Then he told me, ‘Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, because the time is near. Let him who does wrong continue to do wrong; let him who is vile continue to be vile; let him who does right continue to do right; and let him who is holy continue to be holy.’

‘Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.’

The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let him who hears say, ‘Come!’ Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.

I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

He who testifies to these things says, ‘Yes, I am coming soon.’

Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.” Revelation 22: 7-21 (NIV)

Indeed, Revelation is a figurative book and many sections of it are subject to interpretation. However, some portions of it are also very direct. The declaration “worship God!” as told to John by the angel is very direct. The passages pertaining to SEXUAL IMMORALITY are also straightforward. They restate what has been proclaimed in other books of the New Testament. “Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts.” Revelation 9: 21 (NIV) All four of these actions are SINS that people must repent from or suffer the consequences of their action. Revelation 21: 8 (NIV) lists those whose place will be in the “lake of burning sulfur” which is identified as the second death. These include 1) the cowardly 2) the unbelieving 3) the vile 4) murderers, 5) the SEXUALLY IMMORAL 6) those who practice magic arts 7) idolaters 8) all liars. According to Revelation 22: 14-15 (NIV), those who will be left outside of the city (of GOD) are the SEXUALLY IMMORAL as well as others including murderers. Three times in the book of Revelation groups are listed who must repent or be excluded from the presence of GOD because of their SINS.

Each time both murderers and the SEXUALLY IMMORAL which include HOMOSEXUAL acts are incorporated in that list. GOD identifies SEXUAL IMMORALITY as a SIN along with murder. Christians who ignore such a pronouncement are contradicting GOD and HIS Word.

They do so at their peril and the peril of those who are involved in such SINS. They should rather be declaring that because GOD loves them and doesn’t want them to perish; they must repent and turn to the one true GOD and HIS SON—JESUS the CHRIST. The final warning of Revelation should be a warning for all in each generation. “And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.” Revelation 22: 19 (NIV) Contradict GOD without repentance and you are lost!

Peter, like Paul, when referring to marriage recognizes marriage as being between a man and a woman. He makes no other reference to any other type of union. If GOD, JESUS the SON of GOD, Paul, and Peter recognize only marriage between a man and a woman; why would Christians today try to change that which is established by GOD? We do not have the authority nor do we have the wisdom to try to alter GOD’S plan for marriage. Any attempt to change marriage is an earthly, human attempt to alter that which GOD has established. Any such attempt is contrary to GOD’S will!

“So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of this body, because I know that I will soon put it aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. And I will make every effort to see that after my departure you will always be able to remember these things.

We did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.’ We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred
mountain.

And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the mourning star rises in your hearts. Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of
Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.

For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them into gloomy dungeons to be held for judgment; if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of
righteousness, and seven others; if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives
of lawless men (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)—if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment. This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the sinful nature and despise authority.

Bold and arrogant, these men are not afraid to slander celestial beings; yet even angels, although they are stronger and more powerful, do not bring slanderous accusations against such beings in the presence of the Lord. But these men blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like brute beasts, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like beasts they too will perish.

They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you. With eyes full of adultery, they never stop sinning; they seduce the unstable; they are experts in greed—an accursed brood! They have left the straight way and wandered off to follow the way of Balaam son of Beor, who loved the wages of wickedness. But he was rebuked for his wrongdoing by a donkey—a beast without speech—who spoke with a man’s voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.

These men are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them. For they mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the lustful desires of sinful human nature, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error. They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity—for a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him.” II Peter 1: 12-21 and II Peter 2: 1-19 (NIV)

In this passage of Scripture; Peter, like JESUS, Paul, and Isaiah, confirms the historical accuracy of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. He continues that this condemnation of the UNGODLY in those two cities was an example of what is going to happen to WICKED, unrepentant SINNERS—endless spiritual punishment. “… the Lord knows how … to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment. This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the sinful nature and despise authority.”

However, the context of the passage is somewhat different than Paul’s reference to Sodom and Gomorrah. Peter is making a contrast between two groups—those who tell GOD’S truth through the Scriptures and those who are FALSE teachers. In relation to the study of HOMOSEXUALITY and the Bible it is evident that there are also two groups—those who assert that HOMOSEXUAL behavior is a SIN and those who maintain that it is not a SIN. Those are the only two groups that are possible. Either it is or it is not a SIN. There is no such thing as a partial SIN, or a situational SIN, or a conditional SIN. GOD recognizes the righteous and the unrighteous.

Therefore, either the individuals who claim that HOMOSEXUAL acts are a SIN or those who claim that it is not a SIN are wrong. Both sides of the position can not be correct. Peter emphatically declares that “there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves.” If the Bible instructs that HOMOSEXUALITY is a SIN as I believe has been conclusively demonstrated by numerous passages of New Testament Scripture, then those who claim that HOMOSEXUAL behavior is not a SIN are denying the sovereignty of the LORD JESUS CHRIST and GOD the FATHER.

One of the two positions is FALSE. One of the two positions is denying the sovereignty of GOD. It can not be anything else. Peter asserts that these FALSE teachers will be punished for their FALSE teachings. To lead people into SIN is itself a grievous SIN before GOD. “They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done.” It is the spiritual responsibility of Christians to teach the TRUTH through the Scriptures and to encourage and help those living in SIN, as all of us once did, to repent and live our lives in obedience to the one and only CREATOR of the universe—the one true GOD and SAVIOR. Those who select to teach the ways of the world will according to Peter be condemned to “blackest darkness.”

“Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints. For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.

Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.

In the very same way, these dreamers pollute their own bodies, reject authority and slander celestial beings. But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, ‘The Lord rebuke you!’ Yet these men speak abusively against whatever they do not understand; and what things they do understand by instinct, like unreasoning animals—these are the very things that destroy them.

Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed for profit into Balaam’s error; they have been destroyed in Korah’s rebellion.

These men are blemishes at your love feasts, eating with you without the slightest qualm—shepherds who feed only themselves. They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted—twice dead. They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever.” Jude 1: 3-13 (NIV)

Now; Jude along with JESUS, Paul, Isaiah, and Peter cites the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah as a historical event that is important for Christians. It is important because it is one of several examples of GOD punishing people because of their unrepentant SIN. Jude says further that it is “an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.” It is an earthly example of everlasting spiritual punishment. Jude states specifically that Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because of their SEXUAL IMMORALITY and PERVERSION. Paul in Romans the first chapter refers to HOMOSEXUAL actions as a PERVERSION. Now Jude also refers to the SEXUAL IMMORALITY of Sodom and Gomorrah including HOMOSEXUAL behavior as a PERVERSION.

As Peter did, Jude also warns of FALSE teachers referring to them as “godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.” They are godless men who try to claim that there is no problem with going against the will and commands of GOD. They think they know better than GOD what is good for mankind. They think they know but they are wrong! Their end will be their spiritual destruction for their disobedience and for turning people away from GOD. Jude vigorously declares “blackest darkness has been reserved forever” for them.

The books of the New Testament from Romans to Hebrews (fourteen books in all) are generally considered to be written by Paul as inspired by the HOLY SPIRIT. Throughout these books Paul specifically declares that his teachings and writings are directed, guided, given by the HOLY SPIRIT. At least once, Paul makes reference to Sodom and Gomorrah as a historical event. At least seventeen times, Paul identifies SEXUAL IMMORALITY including HOMOSEXUAL acts as a SIN that should not occur and that will be punished by GOD—declaring in several instances that the SEXUALLY IMMORAL will not inherit the kingdom of GOD and of CHRIST. (In only five of his fourteen books, Paul does not mention SEXUAL IMMORALITY by name. In two instances he wrote two letters. In the first letter he discusses SEXUAL IMMORALITY and in the second [These two books are II Thessalonians and II Timothy.] he does not make a specific reference.) At least twice, Paul writes about marriage and in each instance declares emphatically that marriage is between a man and a woman and does not make allowances for any other type of arrangement.

“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.” Colossians 3: 1-10 (NIV)

“Finally, brothers, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more. For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.

It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.” I Thessalonians 4: 1-8 (NIV)

“As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain men not to teach false doctrines any longer nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. These promote controversies rather than God’s work—which is by faith. The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. Some have wandered away from these and turned to meaningless talk. They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm.

We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. We also know that law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious; for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for adulterers and perverts, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.” I Timothy 1: 3-11 (NIV)

As far as I can determine, I Timothy Chapter 1: 10 is the only verse in the New Testament (NIV translation) where the word PERVERTS is used. In Romans Chapter 1: 27, Paul refers to HOMOSEXUAL behavior as a PERVERSION. Consequently, it seems probable that Paul in I Timothy when referring to PERVERTS is referring to HOMOSEXUALS. However, to verify this conclusion, I checked other translations using The Four Translation Bible published by The Iversen Associates, © 1966. The New American Standard Bible translates the passage using the word “homosexuals.” Williams—New Testament in the Language of the People translates the passage as “men who practice sodomy.” Beck—New Testament in the Language of Today translates the passage as “men who sin sexually with women or with other men.” The conclusion of these differing translations is that Paul is referring to HOMOSEXUALS when he lists different groups who act and live in ways that are contrary to the sound doctrine of the glorious gospel of God. A gospel that Paul notes was entrusted to him to give to other men. Again, as elsewhere in Paul’s writings, he condemns HOMOSEXUAL activities as contrary to the Word of GOD. He puts HOMOSEXUAL behavior at the same SINFUL level as murder, adultery, slave trading, and lying among other actions. He refers to all of those who commit such acts as being similar to other SINFUL and ungodly people. As before, HOMOSEXUAL acts are a SIN condemned by GOD.

“Keep on loving each other as brothers. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.

Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’ So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is
my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?’

Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13: 1-8 (NIV)

“God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.” Paul in the last chapter of Hebrews gives this direct warning, “God will judge…all the sexually immoral.” The specific implication is that HE will be judging them for continuing in a life of SIN without repentance. People can not flaunt their SIN before GOD without paying the ultimate price of condemnation. He then reminds us that “Jesus Christ (and by implication GOD) is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Since JESUS CHRIST is the same; it is obvious that the SIN of SEXUAL IMMORALITY including HOMOSEXUAL acts was a SIN in the Old Testament, was a SIN in the New Testament when Paul lived and wrote, and is a SIN today and forever. If that is not true, then Paul is a liar and has not been inspired by the HOLY SPIRIT. JESUS is not truth as HE claimed to be and GOD is not a just GOD.

The only realistic, Christian conclusion that can be drawn from these numerous letters written by Paul is that HOMOSEXUAL behavior is a SIN and is condemned by GOD and JESUS HIS SON. HOMOSEXUAL behavior should be condemned by Christians. To encourage HOMOSEXUAL behavior is to encourage SIN! To accept HOMOSEXUAL behavior is to accept SIN! To grant marriage to HOMOSEXUALS is to encourage SIN and recognize SIN as being irrelevant to the issue of marriage.

Yesterday was the day of observance for Memorial Day—a day set aside to honor veterans and members of the armed forces. Yet, we should not limit our thoughts to that one day. Pray for veterans and current military personnel. Remember their continued service and sacrifice.

The following was first posted by me for Memorial Day 2006. I’ve modified it slightly and have added additional material for 2008.

During our history, we have had periods of volunteer armies, a variety of military conscription plans, and a draft lottery system. Today, we use a system of an all volunteer military service. Regardless of the method used, some have complained and called the different programs unfair and discriminatory. One thing unfortunately is clear, given our sinful human nature; this country needs a military presence.

On Memorial Day 2006, the Peoria Journal Star published a column written by Cal Thomas. It was entitled “‘Thank you for my freedom.’” Here are some thoughts from that column.

“Eighteen months ago, I wrote about a remarkable young man who I have known since his birth. Specialist Daniel Calvin Dobson of Grand Rapids, Mich., joined the National Guard with the intention of going to Iraq. He served and he came home. Next week, he leaves for a second tour. He tells me the Army has a policy that anyone who has already served in Iraq is not required to go back should his unit be recalled. Daniel volunteered to go back.

In e-mail to his friends, he asks three things: ‘First, do not lose hope in the face of negative reporting. We are doing good work in Iraq and God is with us. Second, pray for those of us who have chosen to serve our nation and the liberties espoused by our Constitution. Third, I ask that you never take advantage of the liberties guaranteed by the shedding of free blood, never take for granted the freedoms granted by our Constitution. For those liberties would be merely ink on paper were it not for the sacrifice of generations of Americans who heard the call of duty and responded heart, mind and soul with ‘Yes, I will.’’” (5/29/06, page A4)

“Find a veteran this Memorial Day and say, ‘Thank you for my freedom.’ (Pray to GOD every day and thank HIM for your freedom—my addition.) Visit a military cemetery and thank God someone was willing to die so you and I might live in freedom. And support those, like my friend Daniel Dobson, who for the second time is about to make an installment payment toward the price free people must pay in order that we might continue to enjoy liberty.” (5/29/06, page A4)

The above quote was the end of the article. However, earlier in the column he had this quote: “Chaplains prayed with the wounded and for the dead. If the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union—my addition) objects, someone should tell them to shut up.” (5/29/06, page A4)

At one time, I believe that the ACLU actually seemed concerned about correctly adhering to the provisions of the United States Constitution. Gradually over time, I believe the organization changed its apparent concern from following the Constitution to promoting that which they desired to be Constitutional. They discovered they could rewrite the Constitution by convincing the members of the Supreme Court that “the Court knows best” rather than “the Constitution knows best.” Thus, the Court could reinterpret the Constitution to implement that which could not be implemented by state or congressional law.

However, there are organizations and citizens opposed to the murder of unborn babies, the immoral concept that homosexual behavior is a protected right, and the continuing attempts of the ACLU to build a “wall of separation of church and state” where none is required by the Constitution.

Recently, I received a letter from one such organization—the ACLJ (American Center for Law and Justice) in relation to a court case in San Diego, California. The following are excerpts from that letter.

“After a 17-year legal battle between the City of San Diego and a self-described atheist, a judge has order San Diego officials to remove a giant cross from a hilltop park or start paying $5,000 a day in fines. Defying the order is something cash-strapped San Diego cannot afford. Still, Mayor Jerry Sanders said he would ask the city attorney to appeal.

U.S. District Judge Gordon Thompson, Jr., gave the city 90 days to comply with a 1991 injunction forbidding the cross on public property. The 29-foot-high cross was dedicated as a memorial to veterans in 1954 on a hill that overlooks seaside La Jolla.

The city has tried to sell the half-acre beneath the cross to a non-profit association that maintains the surrounding memorial walls. But federal judges have repeatedly blocked the sale, saying the transactions were designed to favor a buyer who would keep the cross in place.”

“This cross…marks a memorial to fallen soldiers, heroes who deserve to be honored and respected. And a recent survey says 76% of the city’s residents want the cross to stay!” [A survey that you are not likely to see printed or spoken of in the news media—my addition] (American Center for Law and Justice, letter dated May 22, 2006, page 1 and 3)

Answer these questions. Do you believe the veterans who have fought and/or died in past wars sacrificed so that a handful of judges, an atheist, and the ACLU could force their will upon the American people? Do you believe the individuals in the military today are sacrificing so that a handful of judges, an atheist, and the ACLU can force their will upon the American people? If the ACLU, these self-important judges, and this atheist are ultimately successful in this case, will they then attempt to remove all crosses in every public cemetery in America tomorrow?

Crosses have been used in public cemeteries in the United States since before the adoption of the United States Constitution and the addition of the first ten Amendments. Why did not judges earlier in our history rule that these crosses were unconstitutional? Are our present day judges more in tune with the Constitution? Are our present day judges rewriting the Constitution by judicial fiat? Why are we allowing Courtocracy in our democracy? Why are we surrendering our democracy to unelected federal and elected and unelected state judges? Is a courtocracy better than a democracy of the people?

I have not been following the San Diego case and do not know if a final solution has been reached. Since the original decision two years ago was at the district level, it might still be in the court system. Since the above was written, the two strict constructionists appointed by President Bush to the Supreme Court have slowed down the growth of Courtocracy particularly at the federal level but it has not yet been stopped.

The latest, most public, and most egregious example of Courtocracy (the tyrannical rule of a few judges) was the California Supreme Court decision to permit marriage between homosexuals which precipitated my present series on homosexuality. I will (the LORD willing) conclude this series with more thoughts on that court decision. For tonight, the conclusion is obvious. Those who believe that our democracy should be preserved still have work to do. Courtocracy has not yet been stopped in this nation.

Remember: Courtocracy is NOT the implementation of the “rule of law.” It is the Court CREATING law contrary to the “rule of law.” Those who say otherwise are misleading the public. Courtocracy is a perversion of democracy! Ultimately, Courtocracy will replace our democracy if not stopped!

The books of the New Testament from Romans to Hebrews (fourteen books in all) are generally considered to be written by Paul as inspired by the HOLY SPIRIT. Throughout these books Paul specifically declares that his teachings and writings are directed, guided, given by the HOLY SPIRIT. At least once, Paul makes reference to Sodom and Gomorrah as a historical event. At least seventeen times, Paul identifies SEXUAL IMMORALITY including HOMOSEXUAL acts as a SIN that should not occur and that will be punished by GOD—declaring in several instances that the SEXUALLY IMMORAL will not inherit the kingdom of GOD and of CHRIST. (In only five of his fourteen books, Paul does not mention SEXUAL IMMORALITY by name. In two instances he wrote two letters. In the first letter he discusses SEXUAL IMMORALITY and in the second [These two books are II Thessalonians and II Timothy.] he does not make a specific reference.) At least twice, Paul writes about marriage and in each instance declares emphatically that marriage is between a man and a woman and does not make allowances for any other type of arrangement.

In chapters 5 & 6 of I Corinthians, Paul’s theme is SEXUAL IMMORALITY in the church or body of CHRIST. Starting in I Corinthians 6: 9-20 (NIV), he declares “Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

‘Everything is permissible for me’—but not everything is beneficial. ‘Everything is permissible for me’—but I will not be mastered by anything. ‘Food for the stomach and the stomach for food’—but God will destroy them both. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, ‘The two will become one flesh.’ But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with him in spirit.

Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.”

In this quoted passage, Paul states emphatically that the WICKED will not inherit the kingdom of GOD. He lists specific SINS that will prevent a person from inheriting the kingdom of GOD. “Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.” I Corinthians 6: 9b-10 (NIV) First, he identifies the broad group of the SEXUALLY IMMORAL. Then he identifies specific kinds of SEXUAL IMMORALITY including adulterers, male prostitutes, and HOMOSEXUAL offenders. He is very specific. HOMOSEXUAL offenders will not inherit the kingdom of GOD. Finally, all Christians everywhere and on every occasion must “Flee from sexual immorality.” If we live in SIN, we will die in SIN. Those who die in SIN will not inherit the kingdom of GOD. Can any truth of the Bible be clearer?

Immediately after Paul’s discussion of SEXUAL IMMORALITY in Chapter 5 and 6, he devotes most of chapter 7 to marriage. In relation to our topic of HOMOSEXUALITY, the significance of chapter 7 is the continuing references to marriage as a relationship between a man and a woman. Marriage is for a man and a woman to each other. No reference is made of any type of a relationship between a man and a man or a woman and a woman. This is understandable since in the previous two chapters Paul specifically declares that HOMOSEXUAL behavior is a SIN and those who are engaged in such acts will not inherit the kingdom of GOD. Paul would not nor should any Christian ever sanction a relationship of SIN. As Paul states in I Corinthians 11: 8-9 (NIV), “For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.” Woman was created for man! Man was not created for man. Woman was not created for woman. Woman was created for man and they are joined together in marriage. No human society or practice can alter that fact. Marriage is between a man and a woman.

Paul also refers to SEXUAL IMMORALITY in I Corinthians 10: 1-13 (NIV) as he discusses the SINS of the Hebrew people while in the wilderness after leaving Egypt. He concludes that section by stating “These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come. So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.” I Corinthians 10: 11-13 (NIV)

In II Corinthians, Paul makes only one specific reference to SEXUAL SIN. II Corinthians 12: 19-21 (NIV) In Galatians 5: 13-26 through Galatians 6: 1-10 (NIV), Paul discusses the SINFUL nature of man. He lists 15 specific types of SIN. “The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality ….” Galatians 5: 19a (NIV) The first act listed is SEXUAL IMMORALITY. In Ephesians in warns “But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.” Ephesians 5: 3 (NIV) [Read Ephesians 4: 17-32 through Ephesians 5: 1-16 to get the full sense of the passage]

“Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church—for we are members of his body. ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.” Ephesians 5: 22-33 (NIV)

Paul quotes Genesis 2: 24 just as JESUS did. A man leaves his family and is united with his wife—male and female. Throughout this discourse, Paul refers to male and female in the marriage relationship. Male and female because that is the only union that GOD has ever established. Man can not change GOD’S plan without dire consequences. Every Christian should know that. Every Christian should support GOD’S plan for life; not man’s. GOD’S plan is marriage between a man and a woman. No other system is acceptable.

“I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: ‘The righteous will live by faith.’

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.

Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed
indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.” Romans 1: 16-32 (NIV)

This section alone should be sufficient for any Christian to know that HOMOSEXUAL behavior is a SIN. Paul is very clear and precise. The only way he could be more precise is to give the actual description of a HOMOSEXUAL act. I’m certain that even with such a description some would try to deny that he is referring to HOMOSEXUALITY. Paul states that GOD gave SINFUL men up to shameful LUSTS. That even women gave up natural relations for unnatural. Then he continues that in the same way men abandoned natural relations with women for unnatural relations with men. They did so because they were inflamed with LUST. The acts committed by men with men were and are INDECENT. The acts were and are a PERVERSION regardless of the protests of politically correct people today.

Christians today are only repeating what Paul wrote through the guidance of the HOLY SPIRIT. A HOMOSEXUAL act is an act of PERVERSION! The penalty for such SIN in the Old Testament was DEATH. The penalty for unrepentant SIN including HOMOSEXUAL behavior was, is now, and always will be spiritual DEATH. That is the only Biblical conclusion that is possible.

Paul continues that GOD gave up these SINNERS to a DEPRAVED mind. These same SINNERS are filled with every manner of WICKEDNESS, EVIL, GREED, and DEPRAVITY. Then Paul lists seventeen additional SINS that flow from the same DEPRAVED mind that disregards GOD’S standards including being filled with murder, heartless, and GOD-haters. (Who is trying to remove GOD from the public arena = GOD-haters!) The final condemnation is that these individuals know that they are violating GOD’S decrees and yet continue to do so and continue to approve of the SINFUL behavior of others who do the same. Approving the SINFUL behavior of HOMOSEXUAL acts is itself a SIN.

Later on in the book of Romans, Paul quotes Isaiah: “It is just as Isaiah said previously: ‘Unless the Lord Almighty had left use descendants, we would have become like Sodom, we would have been like Gomorrah.’” Romans 9: 29 (NIV) Now, we have three central figures in the Bible recognizing the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah for their SIN as a historical event. The first and foremost of course is JESUS, the CHRIST—the SON of GOD. Now, we can add Isaiah and Paul as HOLY SPIRIT led writers who confirm that the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah occurred as given in the Old Testament.

“Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. The commandments, ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not covet,’ and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: ‘Love you neighbor as yourself.’ Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissention and
jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature.” Romans 13: 8-14 (NIV)

In this section of Romans, Paul once again identifies SEXUAL IMMORALITY including HOMOSEXUALITY as a deed of darkness which must be put aside. We are to not even think about gratifying the desires of the SINFUL nature which includes SEXUAL IMMORALITY—HOMOSEXUALITY as just mentioned by him in chapter 1. Even more telling is his admonition that we are to love our neighbors as we would ourselves. However, he uses a true criterion for love of our neighbor. “Love does no harm to its neighbor.” Romans 13: 10a (NIV)

It is not love to approve of and support someone committing SIN—SIN that will keep him from eternal life with the FATHER. It is not love to allow someone to SIN. A loving parent would not encourage his child to run into a burning house to try to save a family pet. A loving Christian would not encourage a HOMOSEXUAL to continue in his HOMOSEXUAL lifestyle when he knows such action is a SIN that will prevent him from spending eternity in Heaven. A loving Christian does not encourage SIN. A loving Christian does not ignore SIN and pretend that it does not exist. A loving Christian knows that unrepentant SIN and disobedience to the CREATOR of the universe means condemnation at the Day of Judgment. A loving Christian does not want SIN to spiritually destroy a person forever.

These three references to HOMOSEXUALITY in the book of Romans are powerful indictments against any HOMOSEXUAL act. Such an act is a PERVERSION to GOD. Such PERVERSION involves more SIN and the continuing rejection of GOD’S will. Practitioners have a DEPRAVED mind. Practitioners approve of others doing the same leading others down the path of SIN, DEATH, and DESTRUCTION. In love, Christians must rebuke, encourage, and help them to turn to repentance just as we repented when we accepted JESUS the CHRIST as our LORD and SAVIOR.

strangled animals and from blood. For Moses has been preached in every city from the earliest times and is read in the synagogues on every Sabbath.’

Then the apostles and elders, with the whole church, decided to choose some of their own men and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They chose Judas (called Barsabbas) and Silas, two men who were leaders among the brothers. With them they sent the following letter:

The apostles and elders, your brothers,

To the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia:

Greetings.

We have heard that some went out from us without our authorization and disturbed you, troubling your minds by what they said. So we all agreed to choose some men and send them to you with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul—men who have risked their lives
for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to confirm by word of mouth what we are writing. It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements: You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things.

Farewell.

The men were sent off and went down to Antioch, where they gathered the church together and delivered the letter. The people read it and were glad for its encouraging message. Judas and Silas, who themselves were prophets, said much to encourage and strengthen the brothers. After spending some time there, they were sent off by the brothers with the blessing of peace to return to those who had sent them. But Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, where they and many others taught and preached the word of the Lord.” Acts 15: 13b-35 (NIV)

“As they traveled from town to town, they delivered the decisions reached by the apostles and elders in Jerusalem for the people to obey.” Acts 16: 4 (NIV)

“When we arrived at Jerusalem, the brothers received us warmly. The next day Paul and the rest of us went to see James, and all the elders were present. Paul greeted them and reported in detail what God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.

When they heard this, they praised God. Then they said to Paul: ‘You see, brother, how many thousands of Jews have believed, and all of them are zealous for the law. They have been informed that you teach all the Jews who live among the Gentiles to turn away from Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children or live according to our customs. What shall we do? They will certainly hear that you have come, so do what we tell you. There are four men with us who have made a vow. Take these men, join in their purification rites and pay their expenses, so that they can have their heads shaved. Then everybody will know there is no truth in these reports about you, but that you yourself are living in obedience to the law. As for the Gentile believers, we have written to them our decision that they should abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality.’” Acts 21: 17-25 (NIV)

The book of Acts is a brief history of the early church. In Chapter 15 we learn that some believers from Judea were teaching newly converted Gentiles that they must be circumcised just as all Israelites were required to be. Paul and Barnabas disagreed with that teaching. They were sent to Jerusalem, where the first church had begun, to have a final decision reached by the apostles, elders, and church. During the discussion, some believers demanded that Gentiles must be circumcised and must obey the law of Moses. The final decision as determined by the church and the Holy Spirit was that the Gentiles did not need to be circumcised.

However, the Gentiles were to obey four aspects of the law of Moses. It seems certain that these four aspects selected were part of the law that Gentiles in general were not now obeying. If that were not the case, then surely the church in Jerusalem would have included murder and theft, among other SINS, that Gentiles were not to be involved in. These were not included because they did not have to be. Even Gentiles did not participate in a general manner in such acts.

The four listed included SEXUAL IMMORALITY. SEXUAL IMMORALITY as given to Moses by GOD included HOMOSEXUAL activity as listed in Leviticus Chapter 18. Every Israelite raised in the teaching of the law of Moses knew that to be true. Therefore, it is reasonable to believe that when the church at Jerusalem required the abstaining from SEXUAL IMMORALITY they were requiring the abstaining from HOMOSEXUAL behavior. All knowledgeable Israelites and Gentiles knowledgeable in the law of Moses would know that HOMOSEXUAL behavior was included. They did not have to list each separate act of IMMORAL SEXUAL behavior. It was already covered in the law of Moses.

Paul and Barnabas not only taught these restrictions to the people of Antioch but to people from other towns as they preached the WORD of GOD. These restrictions were requirements that Christians were to obey. Finally, when Paul returned to Jerusalem at a later date the church once again reaffirmed that these four actions were not to be part of the life of a Christian. From the earliest times of the church, HOMOSEXUAL activity was considered a SIN that Christians were to abstain from. To not do so was to be living a life of SIN.
